• San Juan mayor wears 'nasty' shirt on live TV after Trump calls her 'nasty'

Self-perspective for what, I made a claim and backed it up when Jinx asked for proof. After that no one wanted to actually discuss the issues, it just turned into a dogpile. Probably because you(not you specifically, just general you) can't defend her. The evidence is overwhelmingly against her. 77 of 78 Mayors are fine with the level of aid PR has received. The Governor is happy with the response. 1 Mayor, a couple FEMA heads, and a couple WH staffers have all called her out for not doing anything to actually remedy the problem she's complaining about. Honestly, where's the outrage. She's out doing photo ops and parading for the big American news stations but isn't doing shit to help FEMA get help to her people. And to hearken back to some earlier posts, this isn't about defending Trump. This idea that the US is just letting one of its territories and its citizens suffer is fuckin insane(the last thread was worse. you had people actually thinking the PR aid was poor because of white supremacy). And the fact that so many people just mindlessly eat it up and ignore the reality just boggles my fuckin mind.
Honestly, and it feels weird to say this, but I agree with Nesto on this one. You guys are piling on him without good reason to, but rather just because of his post history. The evidence he has posted to support his claim is pretty strong, with several sources directly making the claims in recorded video footage, and the evidence others (notedly Kiwi, the only person to actually contribute to this discussion) posted has been pretty weak (by their own admission, even; and I mean, really, Kiwi? Whataboutism? I'm pretty certain that's railed on pretty hard here, so take your "Yeah but Trump is watching NFL" Whataboutism somewhere else - it has no place here). And now all you guys are doing is exactly what you're accusing Nesto of: Simply claiming that you are right and he is wrong, without any proof to back up your claims. I never expected I'd be the person, of all people, to say this, but: You guys ought to back off of Nesto on this one. It doesn't in any way excuse his endless laundry list of bullshit posts, but in this one particular case, he hasn't actually done anything wrong.
People in her city want help, she is garnering attention for it. Politicians have done this for literally ever. I totally agree she is being unprofessional. Based on nesto's evidence, she's most likely dishonest as well. She's political shitposting, but the root cause she's behind is still right. PR needs aid. His administration has all the power to ignore the bait and do what's needed, but he took it hook, line, and sinker. Let her sing her song to herself, then prove her wrong. That's what I'd like to see. [editline]5th October 2017[/editline]
Honestly, and it feels weird to say this, but I agree with Nesto on this one.
Serious props for this post. Nesto, based on evidence of what we know, is right. It's highly frustrating when someone defends the shit that the POTUS pulls seemingly daily. But, it doesn't make him any less wrong here, and makes us no better for ignoring that. In this case, it ain't Trump doing the work, it's FEMA. And FEMA as a collective isn't micromanaged by the administration. I believe they're out there doing their job.

Trump and the person he attacks/disses can both be idiots.
It takes 2.0 seconds to put a shirt on, Nesto lol.
Maybe not for nesto? Jeee come down from your high horse Mr. Speedshirt and realize that there are people out there that are CHALLENGED by shirts. I always thought FP was inclusive...
I mean, yeah, Trump's response to the San Juan mayor was childish... But nesto is right here. I mean even without actually judging the arguments, notice how nesto is the one being responded to with whataboutism, biased sources, and what basically amounts to a "that's fake news" post. People sometimes need to realize it's possible to criticize both parties when both parties are in the wrong. Last time that I remember going like this was when CNN threatened the creator of a fucking gif just because Trump retweeted it, somehow people felt they needed to defend CNN because they couldn't fathom CNN and Trump both being piles of ass. You don't always have to pick a side. On a different note, I do enjoy it when people use creative and possibly petty ways to criticize Trump. The relatively high probability that he will respond makes it exciting.
I like that shirt. I'd wear it.
months and months of horrible, despicable behavior by trump and you're silent. one shirt, and you're here within 5 posts fuck your hypocrisy. you have no grounds to talk about professionalism
Meanwhile accusing trump of whataboutery gets massively up voted
Meanwhile accusing trump of whataboutery gets massively up voted
Yeah, I regret ever voting for President Zukriuchen.
Meanwhile accusing trump of whataboutery gets massively up voted
'Cause he does it all the time?
Little update to get some perspective to people who share the opinion of nesto: https://np.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/74bjc2/san_juan_mayor_wears_nasty_shirt_after_trump/dnxplm1/
am thinking logically. I live on an hurricane prone island(Jamaica, born and raised Oh and btw we are way poorer than Puerto Rico) and I've seen plenty of hurricanes passed through and a couple ones that wreck shit quite similarly. I'm familiar with how things go in places like these in these times. Important businesses and government offices typically have standby generators that are up and running within minutes to hours of the storm passing to try and help coordinate disaster relief. This may surprise you but these places have computers, ink, printers, the internet and electricity courtesy of the generators. How do you think they're in contact with the rest of the world and the country at large? They're also typically fully staffed for weeks because of volunteers. Important officials like mayors, members of parliament etc are typically rushing from meeting to meeting for a long time and along with corporate leaders, they help manage disaster relief work and delegate to the proper departments such as the military and police to keep order in the country, doctors and paramedics, customs officials in charge of receiving and distributing aid packages with the help of volunteers and the military etc. So tl;dr you're massively off mark as to what actually occurs in our region when these things happen. Her office and almost all of the corporate and up-scale neighborhoods without significant structural damage will have power due 5o generators at the very least and in any event, the local power companies typically direct efforts to restoring power to those places first. So it's nowhere near a far stretch to say that in her office, she told an intern or some volunteer or even a friend to print her a shirt using a computer and a printer run on electricity. You seem massively disillusioned and really ignorant when it comes to daily life in our countries.
So I've been talking with my Puerto Rican co-workers to try and understand what's going on. Apparently they say she's just playing politics. Her goal is basically to push Puerto Rico away from the US and wants them to be independent instead of a state, and she's using the situation to try and push that. And since it's Trump, people are falling for it hook, line, and sinker.
Puerto Rico is a weird leftover of colonialism and should be a separate country imo
Puerto Rico is a weird leftover of colonialism and should be a separate country imo
They either need to be a state at this point so they can get the full benefits of being US citizens (because as a territory they miss out on a few things) or be let go and let them be their own damn country because they've been treated like their own country outside of siphoning taxes from them.
I've personally never heard of a government office that had a t-shirt printer laying about. Nor would I class textile print shops as "important business". The source of her t-shirt is beside the point anyway.
You can literally go to just about any arts and crafts store and find paper for printing stuff you can transfer onto clothing.

They do pay social security and are eligible for claiming social security because of it.

I don't think the argument was that she spends all her time printing t-shirts, but rather that she isn't attending FEMA meetings and that she should be. There's basically only two ways to argue against what nesto has been saying, and that is either to show that she did attend FEMA meetings, or that there are legitimate reasons for not attending them.
