As unlikely as it may sound, if anyone has voice server info for either side, please poke me as I want to preserve some history.
Anyone who knows this game want to take a moment to fill people in on whats been going on in this battle?

As far as I know, two mega-guilds/corporations have decided to take their own cold war to the next level.
I'm watching the stream now, all i get are the warp bubbles.
This feels like being on one of those Stargate Atlantis episodes when you get to watch most of the space battles on an ancient computer and you can only see red and blue dots dissapearing.
Man, my buddy is CRAZY about EVE, and texted me the other day about how he and his pirate crew made net-wide news by killing some kind of supercarrier literally worth 1000USD.
Makes me wonder if he helped spark whatever this shitstorm is about. I can imagine being without your death star would get your opponents feeling cocky about striking you while you're vulnerable.
Anyone got a good stream?
"Update, 6:15PM ET: According to our space correspondent, there are now 3,600 players remaining in the battle, indicating that at least 400 ships have been destroyed.
What a view."

A supercarrier is just a drop in the ocean for these two alliances, they literally have thousands of titans that are worth 10x more than supercarriers.
It's weird. two years ago that very station was my home. i got my first decent sized ship and killed pirates around that station, back then goons were friends for life and things were relatively chill.
How shit changes.
I still have a few ships there still :v:
now capital ships are starting to jump in en masse, (not to be confused with super capitals), so this is gonna be even more interesting.

Your pal killed a Revenant -- the first to be lost in actual combat. Hardly a drop in the ocean.
I'd like to try EVE someday, but I'm afraid of it sucking in my life like a giant cosmic vacuum cleaner.
Also, I don't have money to keep an account running, so whatever.

Moments like that are what EVE is all about, for me! A few ships managing to get the jump on a huge, juicy target, and totally ruining somebody's day. I saw a killboard a while back for a couple of frigates that had managed to kill a basic hauler that just happened to be carrying around an original blueprint copy for a supercarrier.
Blueprint Originals for any capital ships are stupendously rare, and worth absolutely ridiculous amounts of money (like, thousands of real-world dollars), because a blueprint original lets you effectively build an unlimited amount of whatever the blueprint is for, and they can be researched to build their items faster and cheaper than you would otherwise be able to. The only other way to build high level ships is through blueprint copies, which are still pretty darn expensive, and cannot be researched, and only allow you to create a limited number of whatever the blueprint is for.
To haul something like that in a friggin tech 1 industrial. Jeez! He lost an empire's worth of money to a couple of frigates.

You can run an account using an in game item called a PLEX, it costs a fair bit in game though but it's not too difficult to sustain an account using in game actions.
You just made the historian in me cringe. Pre-Military Industrial Complex waging war was the single most disastrous thing you could do financially. Even if you won you went bankrupt.
Heh. I meant more for why any major alliance goes to war with another in eve, it's for fun and profit. Most major wars iirc were because an update shifted where the valuable stuff (normally moon goo) is located.

(For those not in-the-know: an NPC faction "mothership" that is stupendously expensive, outrageously rare, and essentially never, ever used in any kind of combat, since they are basically just massive trophies)
I wonder what would happen if Facepunch united into one giant corporation. Would we falter and disintegrate after a few months, or would we gather strength and become a galactic power? Although there's always the chance that we would be crushed by the Goons and \ or Redditors, but it's a thought regardless.

One of my mates was talking about when he was in morsus mihi and about its collapse. One of his friends had to get the hell out of there and he owns pretty much all the Tech II ship BPOs. He got out. In a shuttle. That shuttle was worth trillions of ISK.

That doesn't exactly mean much besides the fact that it was destroyed. The only loss is the time spent on building such a craft, I wasn't implying that it wasn't an irrelevant loss. But if you looked at Goon Fleet and TEST's money pile it's something that is easily replaceable.

FP would most likely be a tiny corp in GSF

We'd falter because we're almost certainly outnumbered by everyone.

We don't have the numbers to compete on a large scale.

lol not for TEST

Because it's easier to be famous as the name of the pilot who lost a big expensive ship, rather than one of many that killed it

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. Bear in mind, I really have not read anything about the game, aside from this thread and another news piece a while back about how some guy lost a $1,000 dollar ship or something like that, so excuse my ignorance.
What is the order in ship sizes?

It could be a nice experiment, nevertheless.
What is the order in ship sizes?
Destroyer
Cruiser
Battlecruiser
Battleship
Carrier/Dreadnought
