Your pal killed a Revenant -- the first to be lost in actual combat. Hardly a drop in the ocean.
Actually, it was something called an "Aeon". This was the actual report on it... unless that ship falls under the category of "Revenant" and I just know dick about EVE Online. I think redditors will lose because SA has a really large hateboner for reddit.
I think redditors will lose because SA has a really large hateboner for reddit.
They'll lose because the Goons are decimating them right now, pretty sure TEST must have been told to bail as soon as possible.
the battle ends abruptly when a goon insider suddenly dissolves TEST
EVE has the coolest stories. I heard one with this one guy that made a bank, Worked it about a year, Then plugged all the funds to himself, bought a big-ass ship, and placed a massive bounty on his head. Then another one about corporate espionage where one guy made it to the assistant CEO or something, then took all the funds and blew the leader the fuck up.

http://evenews24.com/2013/07/25/amarr-aeon-goes-down-by-shadow-cartel-and-constantine/
The Revenant is a faction Supercarrier that can only be built with blueprints dropped by NPC Revenants in 'Incursions', NPC invasions of groups of systems. This combined with the fact they aren't really that good makes them very rare and very excxpensive. Recently the alliance Black Legion (which for a time I was in) managed to destroy the first one in actual battle.

For a bit of scale for how large an area these guys cover, here's a sov map Pretty much the entire north is CFC.
"Update, 6:38PM ET: The CFC has sent a sizable fleet of capital ships into the fight. We're hearing that this kind of move indicates the alliance is optimistic about its chances for victory; capital ships are very expensive in both time and resources, and are often kept out of major battles." "Update, 6:59PM ET: More than 650 ships have been destroyed so far. The CFC may be nearing victory. Messages intercepted from the TEST Alliance indicate that some of its fleets may be retreating — but a retreat may be difficult. CFC has occupied every nearby moon in advance, making an easy retreat to a protected area impossible. (Occupied moons offer players force fields and automated defenses.) As a result, the TEST Alliance has issued orders to "star burst," which is an instruction for pilots to break formation and scatter."
I actually urge anyone in this thread to atleast try eve, it's a bit daunting to begin with; but honestly - This whole big scale war stuff? You'll get it if you want it. You want to be a dickhead a nick everything that isn't nailed to the ground? You can do it! espionage is a massive part of the game! Fuck that though, You want to be a merchant? Easy peas fella'! You can make a massive empire and control all of these dickheads fighting if you're bored enough to play the market! If you want to whore out extended trials check reddit, but honestly lads; go to the general game discussion and mail one of us (We all dont fly togeather as far as I'm aware atleast) and get an extended trial and someone will show you how to play. I reckon' SH will love it just because it's mostly people 'mudslinging' and arguing. I personally, got bored with null (No police areas) business at the moment and just fart about making cash and going into low sec to fight above my weight class because it's usually funny; feel free to message us anytime if you ever need help and I'll throw you an eve mail!
telling fleets to scatter is always a terrible idea in Real life and in Eve.

The politics and money that go into it, the difficulty in getting to be on a corporation etc is just completely fascinating to read about. A film would definitely have more material to work with story wise then say, Competitive Dota.

wait so TEST is getting mopped so hard that they're gonna try and scatter but goonswarm already positioned forces to all the nearby moons? get wrecked gg
This made me resub and redl the client. it's been over a year since i've played.
rest in pieces space-reddit if only your real cousin would follow
wait so TEST is getting mopped so hard that they're gonna try and scatter but goonswarm already positioned forces to all the nearby moons? get wrecked gg
reddit is getting owned top lel
that fact they're told to scatter and are getting fucked from CFC positioned forces at moons makes me laugh so hard. it's just golden.
wait so TEST is getting mopped so hard that they're gonna try and scatter but goonswarm already positioned forces to all the nearby moons? get wrecked gg
what if it was a clever ploy and twist of the media and they're all plotting together and are doing some other maneuver we don't know about
they aren't that clever though.
what if it was a clever ploy and twist of the media and they're all plotting together and are doing some other maneuver we don't know about
maybe that's why their speech was a lotr one. frodo must be dropping the ring into mount doom right now!
TEST finally eating shit is like a hyperactive child no one likes finally eating that poisonous shrub on the playground that everyone warned it about
what happens if the goons win. do they get more territory or something?
What happens to your ship when it's destroyed? Is it perma-death?
What happens to your ship when it's destroyed? Is it perma-death?
When your ship is destroyed you are ejected into a capsule. If your capsule is destroyed, you are sent back to a station where you last updated your clone. If you fail to update your clone, then any skillpoints you earned between your last update and the destruction of your pod will be lost. [editline]28th July 2013[/editline] Oh yeah, and any shiny implants you had in your clone are instantly demolished at the moment of death.
What happens to your ship when it's destroyed? Is it perma-death?
You escape in a escape pod. If THAT gets destroyed too, you lose XP and skills, I think.
What happens to your ship when it's destroyed? Is it perma-death?
Kinda. You have skill points which you train whilst online or offline, for example - I've been playing for quite a long time and my most recent skill was a month or two and is now at 6 day (yay) You have clones, your clones can hold (x) amont of skill points - say I have 50m skill points and my clone is only upgraded to 40m skill points; well, I'm pretty fucked arn't I? Don't quote me on it, but from what I hear these days it only take an entire skill (1-5) from you if you havnt updated your clone, but if you have a skill that took 20 days to learn to level 5 and it's gone you'll be pretty fuckin' pissed! That's just what I've heard, personally I still believe if my clone can handle 100 skill points I'll lose ALL of my skills when I die so I keep it updated just incase :P [editline]yes[/editline]
You escape in a escape pod. If THAT gets destroyed too, you lose XP and skills, I think.
Aye, what he said. If your ship goes poop you are in a pod, then you have to yakety sax out of there before someone blows your ass up and trys to sell your corpse back to you!
I wonder what would happen if Facepunch united into one giant corporation. Would we falter and disintegrate after a few months, or would we gather strength and become a galactic power? Although there's always the chance that we would be crushed by the Goons and \ or Redditors, but it's a thought regardless.
If it played out anything like BLOC, we'd probably try to ally with the goons.
I always love hearing stories like this in EVE, moreso than I did actually playing the game. It just wasn't for me. I really hope Star Citizen has the potential to make huge player stories and situations like this.
