I know nothing of EVE. Why are the ships all clustered together to the point where it looks like they are clipping through each other, and what are the blue transparent orbs for?
From what I've heard the blue orbs stops enemy ships from warping
TEST speech: "WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT, DEEP SOUNDING ADJECTIVE! EQUIP THE FEDORA"
CFC speech: "I've got an actual family to pay for when will this fucking battle be over"
4000+ Pilots over some resources in a game. Thats pretty glorious.
You just made the historian in me cringe. Pre-Military Industrial Complex waging war was the single most disastrous thing you could do financially. Even if you won you went bankrupt.
But the lands gained could be used to pay back the debts ... and glory is priceless.
I dont know what Eve is or anything about it but this FUCKING AWESOME!
Is this still going on?

Ah, then they were warp-bubbles.
With time dilation at 10% i'm sure they're annoying.

Yes

Well over 2-trillion ISK (ingame currency) lost, which translates to $70,050.39 USD
There's loads of cool sci-fi music in this thread about the war, but honestly lads... Have you ever actually sat back and listened on an Eve TS?

The ships are clustered together because that's how every major fleet battle looks. It usually starts clean and organized but then stuff gets crazy pretty quickly.
The blue transparent orbs are interdiction spheres, which prevent ships from warping.
One month of gametime is 549,999,999.00ISK
These battles arent fun if anyone is wondering, you'll sit there for 30 minutes to lock and shoot and then have your game crash. I beat the last 2 hours of AC:AH while in one fleet because it was so slow

I guess its because Eve was never supposed to be played even on this scale when it was released a decade ago.
So how the game handles huge fleets is basically none existent. So you just end up with literally huge messy blobs of ships that work together as like one organism.
Basically the whole system needs an overhaul, and if I remember from an old eve dev vid, there is something in the pipes that will implement proper fleet formations and functionality one day.

Those are "formations" of ships, which are holding a set distance from each other. With some of the larger ships, it can end up looking like a big, goofy, pointy ball! The transparent orbs are warp disruptors dropped by interdiction ships. Anything within one of those fields is unable to warp out of the engagement unless it first leaves the interdiction field.

Having proper formations implemented for the Fleet Commander to employ would be awesome. Give him a level of some control over the ships in his fleet, sort of like a real-time-strategy mode for the fleet commander, and allow him to set fleet formations and proper attack wings. Maybe something like the autopilot system, where you can hand off your ship's navigation to the fleet commander to allow auto-formations and such.

Big Dumb, sometimes I think you should just apply for a job at CCP.
This is one of those times.

The fun of Eve is the in the politics, spreadsheets and pain of others is what most people seem to say.
wow this thread is more active than the actual eveonline thread in ggd
The battle ended with CFC as the winners.
The battle looks like it ended with only a few ships left fighting it all out.

Not yet hopefully it shouldn't take too long
I think it was over 2 trillion credits lost from what I've heard.
The battle ended with CFC as the winners.
I'm curious. How does this work? Do they agree to terms or something after the ships are destroyed/routed?
That was crazy to watch, can't wait for all those stats to roll in
What's that in real money equivalent?
