Because Zips is the only person on earth that displays the news. It's easier to use kotaku or whoever since they're usually faster.
This way I say is nicer as it filters out all the irrelevant news and is generally targeted towards a narrow selection of audience, AKA Facepunch. We get the news that matter most to us, implemented right into the forums.
