Umm... OS X's security is much better than Windows's. That isn't saying much though.
OS X is partially based on FreeBSD which is incredibly secure.
Patched OSX has more security holes than unpatched XP and Vista combined.
And that's a (very well known) fact.

:frogdowns:
I imagine they'll go to Linux mainly, due to all the Google OS stuff.
Probably only the arts & graphics department would rock Mac's.
But that's to expect.

What can you do on a Mac that you couldn't on a Windows [or Linux computer]?
What can you do on a Mac that you couldn't on a Windows [or Linux computer]?
You can buy into false claims made by bad commercials, and then pay more for less.
What can you do on a Mac that you couldn't on a Windows [or Linux computer]?
Nothing really.
It's just a personal preference.
There's really not much to offer to professionals in the art & graphics department with a mac. Most of the photo & video software is just easier and more intuitive for the average person than Windows software.
Macs are now office computers.
enjoy apple you are now a hypocrite
Didn't they use a bunch of Linux servers anyway? I guess they're changing the day-to-day office applications too then.
Do they leave a few people on Windows, like, for the Windows version of Chrome and stuff? If not, how would they code things like exes and stuff on Mac or Linux?
Also, to reply to this - you can run virtual machines, or you could just use WINE to run the exe on Linux.
I could understand them moving to Linux-based operating systems due to their open nature but Mac OS, wtf?
I could understand them moving to Linux-based operating systems due to their open nature but Mac OS, wtf?
Mac OSX is unix-based though
Yeah, Linux is not the same as unix. Linux is open source whereas Unix traditionally is not. The Linux kernel was originally created to be a free unix-like alternative to unix.
you do not understand? Steven licked a lot of eggs and Mac's now cool
This is retarded.
Windows is your best option if you have the brains to not catch a virus.
Apparently Google doesn't think that everyone has brains, which I guess is not surprising.
But what I don't get, is that the scale of chinese attacks were so large that they would have done it anyway if it was OSX or Windows.
Apparently Google doesn't think that everyone has brains, which I guess is not surprising.
What? Google is putting this policy on their employees, not the general public.
Why is Google moving to Mac OS X and Linux implying that people do not have a brain?
But what I don't get, is that the scale of chinese attacks were so large that they would have done it anyway if it was OSX or Windows.
i think the main point was that it was done through IE6, a Windows product. the sooner MS get rid of it the better.
If it weren't for steam, I would be using linux.
I'm okay with them switching to Linux.
I'm not okay with them switching to Mac.
They best be switching to linux.
Linux isn't bad but mac is entirely useless.
Everyone is freaking out about this, but it is understandable as to why they are doing this. Chinese hackers are more used to Windows hacking, and Unix would take some time to adapt to. I would rather they just force Linux instead of giving Mac a choice, but only because I would rather their money be spent better

"Security concerns" doesn't only mean "catching a virus" by opening a malicious executable.
Contrary to popular belief, Windows DO have security of grated cheese, and that counts on both internal and external.
You may say that this is bullshit, now, may you tell me:
How many Windows machines you know are permanently connected to the internet without being behind NAT or Firewall?
[editline]05:52PM[/editline]
That's pretty much normal for proper Linux machine (I don't know about Mac, but I guess it would also be much better)

None, because Windows has had a built in firewall for about 8 years now.
None, because Windows has had a built in firewall for about 8 years now.
Because they gave up on making a real security 8 years ago.
Because they gave up on making a real security 8 years ago.
Explain yourself. Contradictions generally don't work unless you have a damn good reason for them.
I could understand them moving to Linux-based operating systems due to their open nature but Mac OS, wtf?
"Security" even though OSX was the first to fall in hacking conventions.
Mac OSX is unix-based though
Windows has a Unix sub-system.
I still use XP :smug:.
you don't think there are any exploits for mac?
There are exploits, but the code is much harder to break than window's shitty excuse.
I'm not a fan boy but I cannot see why macs are better. I have never had a mac and to me they seem less bang for buck and less supported, and isn't the reason why they seem more secure is because how little people target them?
