"Assist the traffickers by getting their cargo to the destination." doesn't equate to "These people are cargo". And sorry buddy, I differentiate between legal and illegal immigration. Italians shoring up at Ellis are Boat Migrants.
Is it that hard to just say "Assist the traffickers by getting their customers to their destination"? Or hell, why not just trash your racist statement in the first place
This is getting completely out of hand. They need to be stopped at the source.
Good luck fixing entire countries. I'd rather just stop accepting them. We need some kind of laws similar to the one the US have
It's disturbing that some people take 'not our problem' so far that they actually think people's lives don't matter and will gladly leave them to die just to 'stop' the problem. Don't help the countries' problems, we can't waste our budget helping other countries!!!! Don't allow the migrants into our country, it'll strain our economy!!!!!!!! What's that, other countries are collapsing because their populations have doubled because they're being left to accept all of the migrants because the rich first-world countries refuse to do so? Boohoo for them, not our problem but we can't possibly pay an extra few quid to fund the additional strain on public services. We need some kind of laws similar to the one the US have
Ummm, so if we stop accepting them... Then what? Do you think the problems will magically get fixed? Or do you think we'll end up with the people in that country getting pissed off because there's pretty much no way we can totally stop illegal immigration other than shooting anyone who doesn't have their papers in order?
Its been 2 years he's a changed man.
Clearly not.
Nice thing is what Italian authorities did, but I had to rate dumb OP for calling immigrants "boat people". Wtf dude, seriously?
Are you guys getting triggered that easily? This thread is filled with arguing and hatred among others because of "boat people".
Are you guys getting triggered that easily? This thread is filled with arguing and hatred among others because of "boat people".
I wonder if the television series dubbed Swamp People triggers them too.
If it was up to me, I'd drown all those stupid [del]niggers[/del] [del]darkies[/del] [del]foreigners[/del] [del]ragheads[/del] boat people!
Painting everybody who doesn't want to accept a flood of refugees from the developing world into their country as racists is a bit silly. Southern Mediterranean countries are pushing 20% unemployment and their social welfare systems are crumbling under the weight of these hard economic times.
The idea that it's "nice" to rescue people is kinda wonky, it should just be something "you do". With the current immigration rules, I agree that we should try to prevent the sea voyages all together, though. It's just endangering people who has no real hope of actually getting citizenship.
Are you guys getting triggered that easily? This thread is filled with arguing and hatred among others because of "boat people".
Context matters. When someone who has been banned for racism four times posts shit like this, it's pretty safe to assume he's being racist.
Context matters. When someone who has been banned for racism four times posts shit like this, it's pretty safe to assume he's being racist.
So stepping on his toes and yelling racist at him will fix that? I don't see anything gained in it other than riling him up so he gets banned.
So stepping on his toes and yelling racist at him will fix that? I don't see anything gained in it other than riling him up so he gets banned.
he made the thread. he's directly responsible for the content and presentation
Context matters. When someone who has been banned for racism four times posts shit like this, it's pretty safe to assume he's being racist.
For all you know in the time period that he was away from Facepunch he could have been in Africa for humanitarian reasons helping build an orphanage in Rwanda , improving medical care infrastructure in Angola, and adopted 4 kids from Somolia. Would he still be a racist then?
For all you know in the time period that he was away from Facepunch he could have been in Africa for humanitarian reasons helping build an orphanage in Rwanda , improving medical care infrastructure in Angola, and adopted 4 kids from Somolia. Would he still be a racist then?
He might still be a racist after doing that actually.
he made the thread. he's directly responsible for the content and presentation
Yeah I just compared the titles of the source to the one he had, probably he should of avoided that, but I don't see how it can be used to call him a racist. Maybe its that presentation of his that allowed for this all to get out of hand, he wasn't expecting people so eager to see it one way from him they filled in the blanks?
Banning people doesn't solve anything. We need to figure out the problem together, so he can be successfully rehabilitated and integrated into the forum community.
Banning people doesn't solve anything. We need to figure out the problem together, so he can be successfully rehabilitated and integrated into the forum community.
That sounds like a lot of work.
That sounds like a lot of work.
I think you meant "sounds like less fun for me."
-snip- I didn't mean to hit post
I think you meant "sounds like less fun for me."
Why yes, yes I did.
So stepping on his toes and yelling racist at him will fix that? I don't see anything gained in it other than riling him up so he gets banned.
he called these people "cargo" and you're telling everybody to not call him racist despite his history righto
That sounds like a lot of work.
In that case, the best way to replace our falling user population is to advertise and ship people in from other forums or websites. Or better yet, if Garry made a game that would appeal to young, impressionable people... He could call it Iron Oxide or something.
he called these people "cargo" and you're telling everybody to not call him racist despite his history righto
He's referred to these people as cargo to the smugglers because they are cargo. I don't know why you assume he's being racist, its xenophobic if he considered them cargo but not racist. Nice shot none the less
He's referred to these people as cargo to the smugglers because they are cargo. I don't know why you assume he's being racist, its xenophobic if he considered them cargo but not racist. Nice shot none the less
If the smugglers referred to them as "niggers" would he be a-ok using that word as well. Going by the fact that he calls them fucking boat people, I don't think it's unfair to say that this guy might indeed be racist.
could garry please stop having birthdays
SH has somehow turned so much more vile thanks to it. Like holy shit. [editline]1st June 2015[/editline]
For all you know in the time period that he was away from Facepunch he could have been in Africa for humanitarian reasons helping build an orphanage in Rwanda , improving medical care infrastructure in Angola, and adopted 4 kids from Somolia. The op is both correct and incorrect in calling them cargo. To the traffickers they are cargo. Cramming as many as they can into a boat and sending them on their way. However 2the term passanger applies better because these are for the most part economic migrants the fact that they pay $3000 or more each for the trip should prove that point. Taking in such illegal migrants will just mean more will keep coming. The middle east and african nations should do more ro support their own.
Taking in such illegal migrants will just mean more will keep coming. The middle east and african nations should do more ro support their own.
You do realize that the ME nations have far more refugees while also having to actually deal with ISIS.
This is getting completely out of hand. They need to be stopped at the source.
Good luck on that.
What if they identify as boat-kin?
Nice shot none the less
If only we could better convey tone through text.
http://www.straight.com/news/461796/gwynne-dyer-eu-navies-uphold-traditions-sea-refuse-abandon-refugees EU is in a dilemma, most members voters don't want more immigration, but then if you want to achieve that you have to be prepared to watch people drown in this case. Not an easy or straightforward situation for anyone involved.
