sony doesn't sell handhelds because they don't understand that your handheld gaming experience should be different from your console one
Vita has been the best handheld gaming experience I've had since the Gameboy SP. It has a proper standby that lets you jump in out of games in seconds so you can properly play it on the go, and the battery lasts for like a week on standby unlike a certain other handheld.
It might sell better if they released more blockbuster games for it. Not just games that a secondary to to the console versions.
Also, PSP failed at emulating console experiences because it lacked a second joystick. The 3DS biggest oversight was not including another nub, and the release of the addon stick proves Nintendo knows that. Where PSP failed at capturing the console experience, Vita does not.
They need to fucking slash the memory card prices to as low as they can. NOBODY wants to pay $100 for 32gb.
My Vita is a dedicated SMT: Persona machine and that's okay. It's a fun little console that does a lot of things really well at the cost of being super proprietary.

Because you're completely wrong on that notion. (Pause the game and close the 3DS, or press the home button and close the 3DS. It isn't hard at all.) The battery life isn't all that bad either. If you're not using the wireless features, there's a switch for that. If you're still worried about battery life, turn down the brightness just a bit (I usually have mine set to 3) and turn on power save mode. And more importantly don't use the 3D because you have no use for it at all. It adds or removes nothing.
I would have got a Vita if pretty much everyone I know didn't have a 3DS instead and it had more/better quality games.

Because all it has are games that are (mostly, the only ones that aren't that bad are the personas) inferior ports of games that are already out on PS3. Why bother rebuying the games on a 250 dollar console when people already spent about as much on the other console, which is about the same price as the Vita? They need to set themselves apart from the "console experience."
I'm actually getting the original PSP for my birthday to replace my old one. I'm not buying all my games again.

Also, why the FUCK is it the first major handheld with two nubs?
Because what's the competition when it comes to handhelds? (in response to that major handheld question) There's only two major handhelds nowadays. With the 3DS I don't think they ever intended to even have a second pad. (hence why they released one later on when they announced that they got Monster Hunter, ironically the same game that needed a new controller when it came out on Wii) The only games that ever use them are FPS and Third Person games and there's usually never any of those on handhelds because more often than not they don't work too well.
There isn't much of a reason to buy handhelds when there are more powerful devices out there that can do more than just gaming.
Do you know how powerful the Vita is? Quite powerful!

I would like to see dev kits that you can download and work on an existing console. The indie market would explode on the Vita if you could do that, even if the prices were high.
it's a great handheld but sony killed it with their incompetence.
I would like to see dev kits that you can download and work on an existing console.
I don't think it helps with this announcement in a couple of weeks, like why would I wish to buy a vita for £200 onwards if the PS4 is coming out soon.
Because one is a handheld and the other is a console? Why are you comparing the two?
Often consoles are sold at a loss to make it back with games, so if people don't buy your licensed games you lose money even if you sell consoles. Pretty sure that's why a lot of devs are so reluctant to include homebrew functionality.

.. both of which add no real revenue towards Sony, in effect making them lose even more money. PSP Vitas are sold at a loss already; it is the games and accessories that Sony makes a profit off of. I don't feel sorry for Sony at all; they got themselves into this mess by producing something that is so expensive that the general population doesn't want, yet cost Sony money each time one is purchased.
As said before, Sony's problem. It just shows they don't know how to compete & sell wares anymore.
dedicated handhelds cant compete with smartphones
It sure is Persona Avatars in this thread. The price needs to come down so I can play Golden.
EXACT same issue as the PSP and PS3. Sony ran about 2 fucking ads for it
It sure is Persona Avatars in this thread. The price needs to come down so I can play Golden.
That and, getting your PSP games onto a Vita is a pretty arduous task.
It sure is Persona Avatars in this thread. The price needs to come down so I can play Golden.
It's only like $50 more than a 3DS. So that's a pretty fair price for the hardware you get.
$50 price difference if you buy the XL. $70 price difference if you buy the original (unless its the Limited Edition Fire Emblem one). They both also come with games now too, along with a memory card of decent size. Much better deal.
Drop the price and maybe I'll buy one.
Yeah I never even see anyone with a Nintendo DS any more let along a huge bulky PS Vita.
My phone will never replace my 3DS
EXACT same issue as the PSP and PS3. Sony ran about 2 fucking ads for it
The PSP sold great, and PS3 just recently has passed the Xbox360 in sales.
Hey sony....two words: price cut.
Hey sony....two words: price cut.
three more words: the memory cards.
