Facepunch seems really insecure about 4chan. As soon as it gets mentioned everyone goes "it's shit, it's shit, don't go there, it sucks" etc. wonder how much time is spent discussing FP on 4chan boards? [sp]the answer is none[/sp]

Never imagined that would be the case. I came to this site in 2006 around the time my pal had introduced me to gmod9. Sadly I was an idiot back then and couldn't even make mods work. Once I finally got the hang of managing stuff like that, I decided to become a regular member around here. Place really has changed alot in the past 5 years. Great forum, interesting people, many diverse topics. Congrats facepunch!

People there rarely get banned for things like flaming/trolling and talking about piracy and the likes, this alongside with the fact that nobody ever puts their reputation on the line when remaining anonymous, makes everyone blatantly honest about their opinions on everything. /v/ isn't filled with retards and trolls, it's filled with the exact same kind of people that visit Facepunch. Imagine how Facepunch would be like if every time someone felt like calling someones opinion bullshit or telling someone to fuck off and die, and you have /v/. The people on /v/ are normal, they just have absolutely nothing that prevents them from stating their exact and honest opinion. Since everyone is anonymous and therefor can't recognize each other or earn themselves a reputation, it's only the new people that finds personal attacks offensive rather than "just another bullshit opinion that I don't have to listen to if I don't feel like it". Also, the reason people hate tripfags is because they're the only ones still trying to earn themselves recognition and a reputation on 4chan, and since they're the only ones with reputations they're the only ones vulnerable to personal attacks that are based on facts.

I always wondered how popular FacePunch was. Glad to say this is my main forum to visit.

Looking at most of the top forums, I'd say that facepunch has a much cleaner and appealing layout than most of them. Most other forums just look messy and primitive compared to facepunch's design, But that's something you only really notice when you see them side by side.
