I don't care if they are from SA.
Is it just me or is number 14 blank?
I also swear I saw a thread like this before.
the last board i visited was /v/
pretty much every message was a shitty attempt at pissing someone off
so yes, it is that fucking bad
All major boards are like that. /a/, /b/, /v/, etc. But it's mostly the anonymity, it makes it possible for people to express opinions they wouldn't otherwise.
The layout is an eyesore
It works very well, I don't really see a problem with it. If you want stuff like auto-updating threads etc (which FP doesn't have, heh) you can get scripts for that.
It takes time to getting used to, but after a while of being there you sort of understand how shit works. People there rarely get banned for things like flaming/trolling and talking about piracy and the likes, this alongside with the fact that nobody ever puts their reputation on the line when remaining anonymous, makes everyone blatantly honest about their opinions on everything.
/v/ isn't filled with retards and trolls, it's filled with the exact same kind of people that visit Facepunch. Imagine how Facepunch would be like if every time someone felt like calling someones opinion bullshit or telling someone to fuck off and die, and you have /v/. The people on /v/ are normal, they just have absolutely nothing that prevents them from stating their exact and honest opinion. Since everyone is anonymous and therefor can't recognize each other or earn themselves a reputation, it's only the new people that finds personal attacks offensive rather than "just another bullshit opinion that I don't have to listen to if I don't feel like it".
Also, the reason people hate tripfags is because they're the only ones still trying to earn themselves recognition and a reputation on 4chan, and since they're the only ones with reputations they're the only ones vulnerable to personal attacks that are based on facts.
This
We're PC Gamers, 4chan is console weeaboo fans. We hate Anime, lots of repetitive Japanese titles, etc.
Are you serious? What are you even basing this on, a user survey? It's more like 50/50 with bitter bickering on both sides. And most users don't come there for the animu anymore anyway, just as most people don't come here for gmod anymore.
Yeah, take that, archery talk!

Yeah.....I have no clue of what he's talking about. 90% of the time when you see a thread on /v/ about a JRPG it becomes a shitstorm. That and most of /v/ (from what I've seen) tend to prefer PCs though some games (like Dark Souls) require consoles.
4chan is kind of like WoW, there are tons of people who insist on talking shit about it despite never actually playing more than the free trial (or browsing /b/ for ~2 minutes).
"4chan sucks! Its a shithole!"
"Why?"
"It's 4chan! You know, /b/!"
"WoW sucks and is for casuals!"
"Why?"
"I played the free trial and it was easy!"

Freaking awesome! I gotta be honest, though. This is one of the forums, if not the only one, that I access daily. Congrats, Garry!
How the fuck is gaia so large?
So proud.
Well 4chan must have a changed allot then, even if the site is still considered about "Japanese Culture"
The only reason why so many Tweens ever cared about Japanese culture is because they preferred serious animation shows over silly shows, and because they thought they were forced to adapt to popular mainstream American culture. Japanese culture is seriously not all it's cracked up to be.
Why is gaia so massive anyways? There must be something there that draws so many people?

Would you say Facepunch is still mainly about gmod? 4chan was founded as a japanese culture-oriented imageboard and FP was founded over gmod. Doesn't mean they remained that way when they grew in popularity.

It's basically like an IRC chat room that's constantly getting spammed and saving every single message

For example. I did not join the forums because of gmod.
I joined because it's freaking awesome here.
4chan has approximately 812 pages, each with 10 threads each (ignoring the random admin posts and sections not in the image thread layout) so 8120 threads. If every thread had 200 posts, that'd be 1,624,000, 807,510,081 posts shy of what the rankings say. Now, I know I'm missing the threads that the admins post that never go away and have no post limit, but I highly doubt that'd add up to 800 million posts.

Old/inactive threads are automatically deleted, I'm pretty sure the ranking includes every thread/post created.
Also, each post has its own post number, they keep track of things.

Also, because it's rather kid friendly. Kids are shunned from most forums, we require a certain level of maturity and level of quality in posts. Gaiaonline's target audience is young teenagers, and so the level of maturity and quality in posts are not as strict. It's the forum most people go to when they're too young to fit in anywhere else.

16 pages now, and I think moot counts deleted posts.
How come DUTCH forum about HORSES is 16th? Is there even that much to talk about horses?

The massive amount of posts could be due to rampant spambots or it being something like that one cloned Bethesda forum (can't remember the exact name, was something about Fallout) which stole posts from several other forums. That or the Dutch really love horses, I have no idea.
Holy shit, the biggest Dutch forum is number 14!

Heh, we love horsies alright...
Oh theheheheheheh.
We used to be higher as stated earlier in the thread but with the Pre-2009 post deletion (Gay) it lowered the amount of posts we had.
To think too I had like 14k posts before that.
