Ep3 delayed 389472984 years
Damn. Good job though Gabe, you've built an empire of awesome and you've done a much better job with Valve than any big game company.
:l He probably ate the last 854th richest person.

Only 4 posts and you've already insulted Facepunch's holiest man. How dare you?
I wouldn't be surprised, what with the success of steam and the amount of sales they gain from the Christmas season sales and coupons. People were spending money left and right then.
Ralph Lauren polo's are a pretty modest thing to wear. At least for a rich man.
Bobby Kotick is a fogey in his suit.
I wonder how many of those Origin users are also on steam.
Gabe is rich?!
No,he is fat. and wealthy

Gabe have loads of M.O.N.E.Y
Take that EA
Then EA introduces Hats in Mass Effect 3 to compete with TF2.
$1,500,000,000 divided by 300 pounds, that gives us $5,000,000/pound.
Dear Jesus, someone grab the butchering knife.
1 and a half billion dollars translates to about 952926000 pounds. We now know the true weight of gaben.
All without screwing people.
that picture made my eyes bleed
I honestly think there should be a limit to the amount you can keep without being forced to reinvest it in other businesses/worthwhile pursuits.
$1 Billion should be the limit.
When you invest anything over that limit, you get a worthwhile percentage of whatever you invest in, as you should.
Then it becomes a task to increase your income to the point where you're more-or-less riding on the cap at all points, and any expenditure you attempt to make is negated by the amount of money you have coming in from the investments. AKA, you can go buy ANYTHING for millions of dollars and within a day you're back up to your $1 Billion cap and it's as if you actually spent nothing.
Like literally, stockpiling billions of dollars is the most worthless pursuit in the world.
With 1 billion USD you can spend $27378 USD PER DAY FOR 100 YEARS.
I would love for Valve to go public. That's a stock I'd buy in a second.
Though they've repeatedly said that they won't go public, since they don't want to be liable to their shareholders--they want to keep doing their own thing, which I totally respect.
It's nice seeing some integrity in businesses.

I hope you realise this is his net worth, what his business is worth.
He doesn't actually have the 1.5 billion dollars sitting in a bank or in his house.

My bad.
Yeah, I'm talking about disposable income in my post above, after tax as well.
Gabe is a deserving, market changing entrepreneur. We need more passionate people like him on this planet. Great job gabe!
It’s far and away the industry’s most important digital sales channel, and no other game company has a comparable service. Last summer, video game giant Electronic Arts launched a counter-offensive, and its Origin service expanded quickly thanks to EA’s industry connections
all EA accounts automatically becoming Origin accounts... Does. Not. Fucking. COUNT as Quick Expansion
Also, Gabe is one of the few 1%'s who I'd consider Okay, as his company's Digital distribution service constantly puts shit on sale. And not just 5 or 10% off sales, but we're talking Mass Effect 1 and 2 down to less than $5... that's almost stealing. So there's no fucking us over. EA's origin on the other hand? Convert all accounts to origin accounts, call it expansion and success, make games Origin exclusive. Steam never monopolized the market

Most of the money he has, as is the case with most rich people, isn't tied into liquid cash but instead into assets. Companies, items, stocks, buildings etc.
He doesn't actually have 1.5 bill dollars around somewhere. But Valve is worth that much technically.

You've actually probably have EA to thank for that. Remember Valve does not set the prices. They instead make deals with publishers who are those that set the prices.
are people actually estimating his weight? that's a bit creepy
HAVE ALL OF MO- Oh wait.
Ok, now I'm 100% convinced he's a real life batman now.

100% real life fatman. No offense I love you Gabe.
he learnt that you can't buy wisdom, so he grew a beard
It's a two sided steal, the games being $5 are a steal to us, but Valve steals our wallets like clockwork :v:
And Steam is sort of a monopoly, like any Steamworks game you cannot play anywhere else.
Who'd want it anywhere else. Steamworks gives the games achievements matchmaking statistics etc
I love you Gabe.
If I were Gabe I'd buy a personal trainer and a treadmill. If only to shut up the demented honkings of my fanbase
That or just give an address "Everything I do is gold. please stop making fat jokes or I will just retire, I mean I totally could so yeah, fuck you"
Oh look, it's possible to get rich without pissing on your fans.
Gabe. never change.
