If only this man got treatment for his illness, he seems very talented.
If only this man got treatment for his illness, he seems very talented.
Sometimes the genius goes with the disorder. If you remove the disorder, there's a likely chance that he'll lose the genius.
He is extremely delusional, that is for sure. He believes his OS will be used for a thousand years and that MS and the Linux foundation will give into his demands and support his standards. Mind you, they're actually pretty decent standards on the technical side. Quite simple and quite functional. But they're based around improving archaic technology, and obviously the big tech companies have no interest in working backwards. Also, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, Decryptor. He wrote just about every aspect of the OS from scratch. He wrote his own file system, he wrote his own driver for every single supported device, he wrote every application available on the OS, he wrote the kernel, etc. It's impressive and I'm not sure why you're dead set on diminishing that.
Was skimming over his blog, got intimidated by how long it was, scrolled down for like 4 seconds, and landed on
----11/25/14 14:07:19---- Look at this shit: Intel is Racist I'm not racist. His concept of "everything is a document" is interesting to say the least. I found it pretty neat that he could just dump some code into his console and have it update dynamically.
This OS has everything, even a bridge building game:
This is some pretty amazing work, making an OS from scratch is a really tough task.
There's also some sort of weird asteroids clone that has weird controls:
Why didn't anybody mention this sooner? Brb formatting hard drive.
He specifically stated it's meant to be dual booted you filthy heathan.
He specifically stated it's meant to be dual booted you filthy heathan.
I'm sure he would have used different words to describe that filthy heathen.
I'm sure he would have used different words to describe that filthy heathen.
Like a certain word beginning with the letter N.
Like a certain word beginning with the letter N.
Yes, that was the joke
I heard about this guy a year or two ago, I had no clue he was still active.
Read the whole article, absolutely fascinating. I feel like it was less sad once I finished. I had placed lots of my own emotions on him, but once I finished it I feel like even though he's not seeing the world through a healthy lens, he still feels he's producing something valuable to the world and seems to feel productive. That makes me feel better.
Some quotes from his twitter feed:
Why did he call God "Satan's bitch"? Seems inconsistent with coding an operating system from scratch because God wants you to.

Also means he's dedicated.
Why did he call God "Satan's bitch"? Seems inconsistent with coding an operating system from scratch because God wants you to.
It was my understanding that his "Oracle" is one that speaks through him? That was my reading from his twitter and responses he gave.
He makes some questionable design decisions and is very opinionated about them, but hey. Also means he's dedicated.
I would call them questionable at best :v: Almost all of his code and demands revolve around last generation (or older) technology. However, it's still impressive in terms of effort and coding knowledge, despite being questionable.

this is pretty sad and at the same time pretty amazing more power to him tbh
Writing a complete operating system and then some is no easy task, and I'm sure being impaired by one of the worst mental disorders around makes it that much harder of a task to achieve. I'd love to see you make an OS, since you seem to think it's no big deal. I can't by the way, I don't even know where to begin, before that's even brought up as opposition to this post. On top of that statement you said they " catch on", what does that even mean? There are only three big OS' out there considering the general populace, those being Linux, Windows, and Mac OS and Linux is pushing it for the general public.
something about that seems really demeaning if you ask me. Mental disorder =/= stupid or incompetent.
something about that seems really demeaning if you ask me. Mental disorder =/= stupid or incompetent.
He never stated that he wasn't competent, or implied a lack of competence in any way, merely that his metal disorder could hinder him from seeing more clearly in what he does, and slowing him down. However, I would like to point out that it could of course be the other way around in reality, that he has an easier time involving himself with the code and getting shit done.
