School lunches in Finland are delicious.

My school has an Italian line, Mexican line, and a Grill line, alongside the usual school district stuff. I feel spoiled.

School lunches have always been extremely shitty.

But yes, we are allowed to leave the schools at any time during the day.

I used to walk to school, it took me 20 minutes round trip so in my 25 minute lunch i only had 5 to make and eat something. If the food was too shitty i'd just wait the 3 hours between lunch and dismissal and then go home to eat.

My school's food is actually great too. There are schnitzel & salad meals, some nice tomato sauce spaghetti, a variety of sandwiches to choose from, Bagels (of course), grilled toasts and much more.

I ate sandwiches at school anyway so I wouldn't care.

I now feel that I was lucky at my high school. I could just walk down the street for full meals that were actually decently made. My school also had a culinary program, so the food there was pretty much gourmet style.
