Actually, mammoths wasn't one of ours. That was mother nature.
We just want them back 'cause they're chill.
How is bringing back an animal that we made go extinct playing god?
If anything it's trying to fix what we fucked up.
Correct me if I'm wrong, But didn't Mammoths die from the transition from the Ice Age to this temperature? I doubt we over-hunted them with the populations at that time.
Hopefully the maples they're taking are being preserved again so that any advances in technology that yield the slightest chance of resurrection can be made use of.
Strongly depends on the conditions it's stored in.
Isn't radioactivity a random process where the rate of decay (half life) cannot be affected by external changes?
Isn't radioactivity a random process where the rate of decay (half life) cannot be affected by external changes?
Half-life is not a concept limited to radioactive elements.

I hope every one who misspells "samples" dies out eventually.

I hope that every one who says that people should die out eventually should stop posting.
i wonder what mammoth meat would taste like
Like chicken.
Half-life is not a concept limited to radioactive elements.
Thanks for the knowledge :)
I hope everyone who drops the letter "s" in "dies" dies out eventually.
I hope everyone dies immediately.
i wonder what mammoth meat would taste like
i remember reading some story about rich-ass people digging up mammoths and eating them
i'll try to dig for it in a bit

It was the humans I guess. We ate those fuckers because they were tasty burgers and had good clothing on them.
Picture of it apparently

So this Mammoth is pretty much Captain America?
I wonder how mammoth tastes like
I hope everyone who drops the letter "s" in "dies" dies out eventually.
I hope everyone that doesn't know that single quotes are used for quoting terms and that double quotes are used for quoting phrases dies out eventually.
I just watched an episode of doctor who where there was a preserved mammoth trapped in ice. I thought "wow that would be awesome."
2 days later
I think domesticating Mammoth's would make for a great food source.
A quick sketch:The huge Tundra in Siberia, unsuitable for agriculture or intensive use for cow-grazing,could be turned into gigantic pastures were Mammoths could roam mostly freely. Mature Mammoths could be picked out by hunters in jeeps or helicopters and the corpse would be skylifted to an mammoth-slaughter facility, with each slaughtered Mammoth supplying enough meat to feed an entire community for a year.
debates on whether the extinct species should be resurrected using DNA.
Who is debating against this and how is their opinion worth anything? Bringing back an extinct species could be as big of a scientific achievement as man on the moon. If we don't do it, China or another country eventually will.
Where would said mammoth live? The planet has changed profoundly since mammoths where alive.
Where would said mammoth live? It's environment has changed profoundly.
A zoo or a specifically designed habitat?
You don't seriously think they're gonna clone billions of them and just let them loose all over the world do you?
How can you legitimately have an opinion against resurrecting extinct creatures?
They're basically furry elephants

Throw them all in canada obviously.
They will feed on wild moose.

That's actually a similar mammoth found several years ago that was well preserved but it's not in the condition as the one stated in the article

Imagine a future where these grand beasts wander the land once more.
Didnt they clone an elephant/mammoth hybrid at some point?
Yeah but they were all born fucked up and died soon, if not immediately.
The sooner you people stop debating and get around to playing god, the sooner I can ride and pet these things at the zoo. I wouldn't mind trying a mammoth burger, either.
Resurrect us some dodos while you're at it so I can open a fast food chain.
Did you know there's a park in Siberia made for mammoths and some scientists believe that it will be populated by mammoths soon.
