Yahoo has deleted the Erotica category on Tumblr, and disabled indexing for any adult Tumblrs. Tumbl

That's weird. I've seen plenty of NSFW/Adult blogs that are merely "tasteful."
I know of several blogs that merely contain anatomical drawings (albeit detailed, but you do that crap in art classes anyway) as well as "tasteful porn." The kind of porn that is more intimate and artsy than a Asian chick getting ravaged by a plant vine or something.
You mean they should just delete the site?
The majority of the site would be intact. Supernatural and Firefly and Bioware games and western cartoons and feminism take up a large chunk of the community.
Not to mention the transmorphialexistential shit.

It's no secret that tumblr has long been the most accessible and diverse porn stash on the Internet.

my entire life is ruined
But porn is the only reason i even visit Tumblr.
I hope it dies soon.
Hear that? that's the sound of hundreds of hipster virgins slitting their wrists
This just in, looking at porn now makes you a hipster virgin, more at 11.
God damn it, Yahoo. Why can't you just die already, nobody uses you anymore.
Or even better, be like AltaVista and not do anything.
where can I satisfy my horrible horrible pregnancy fetishes now??!?!?!?!
See, when the whole buy out happened I put a little faith in Yahoo and ignored all the bitching that came across my dashboard because they seemed like they were gonna be smart with it all back then. But yesterday they royally fucked up. Tumblr is a place where the vast majority of the population reblogs what Yahoo considers "NSFW" and they've pretty much alienated their userbase by adding the stipulations to having your blog flagged. If you've ever flagged your own blog in the past, well you fucked up because it can't be changed. Had your blog flagged despite not reblogging any NSFW pictures? Well too bad, language counts it seems. They have a repeal option, but I seriously doubt that it works out most of the time. Tumblr was never meant to be a family friendly place, and they need to realize that.
I still don't get the mindset of going to non porn things to look at porn
If you want to look at boobs just fucking find a porn site
Looks like Yahoo did a piss poor job of disabling indexing. All I had to do was search up "site:tumblr.com [porn]" and I still find stuff.
THE LYING BASTARDS!

To be fair a lot of people run porn blogs on tumblr. I for one use Tumblr as content aggregate and to follow friends. But I do occasionally reblog things that would be considered NSFW if I find them funny or interesting. But some people literally do run their own porn site through it and have for years because it's be par the course.
I really never found any use for tumblr
half of the time it wouldn't load for me
and when i did make an account it wouldn't load to post something
I wonder the percentage of blogs that have NSFW content on them. It's probably not too smart to crucify a major part of a web sites traffic. I guess they want it to be more kid friendly at the wide cost of a major audience, though it is theirs to do with what they want now.

Major porn sites have that too. If you're looking for it, there's likely a dedicated porn site for it. Using Tumblr to find porn always seemed fucking stupid when there's tons of it on websites that will bombard you with all the porn you need.

See the reason Tumblr was so popular for porn, was the fact that it was essentially every [insert fetish here]-dedicated site at the same time. Anyone looking for specific combinations is now screwed.
my homestuck porn...no...

The number hovered around 10%

Not really though, I don't get why so many people don't get how porn isnt just suddenly transferred to a porn site, artists upload sketches and things to Tumblr and a lot of shit there cant be found unless uploaded to other sites against the artists wishes. People dont just follow adult Tumblrs just because hey I can jerk off to this rather than visit a real porn site, more to support an artist they like?
Its like if garry removed the music/art subforums and people were told to deal with it and go to youtube/deviantart because music/art is there
Wait.
Tumblr makes a distinction between "NSFW" and "Adult"?
When I went to make a Tumblr some time ago, there was just a "NSFW" tag. I don't remember seeing anything about adult.
What exactly is/was the distinction, and how was it made? I'm curious now. :v:
some people are saying they only removed the tags for non-logged in users and users who have adult filters on. This true?
I dunno, all the pornographic tags I track still get new posts. Maybe the blogs that show up aren't marked as adult yet.

Agreed
However, some people just have normal blogs and such they like to have openly findable by friends or interested parties, that occasionally include NSFW stuff in them, but with this change their blogs might as well be deleted unless you are sent a specific link from the owner of that blog
Like a few of my friends or people I know of have tumblrs that are otherwise normal but have occasional NSFW stuff posted, but now I'll not be able to search or look them up unless I've previously followed them or ask them for a direct link, or if they have a link posted somewhere.
It's stupid when this entire thing could be avoided simply by making it so by default, this stuff isn't searchable, but you can opt into allow "adult" tags to show up on your searches just like you can with a google search
Excellent work Yahoo, I'm sure this won't alienate any Tumblr users or anything!
