Here we go again with your fundamental anti-EU idioticy. Undemocratic ways? Raking in cash? What are you smoking?
I think we're waaay past smoking certain substances and going straight to huffing paint thinner.
I think Europe should become its own country, that way you don't have that much work to do in geography class.
Same shit no matter what political party.
Well Denmark's doing pretty well so I suppose if it's the same shit, it may very well be decent shit.
I think what we should really be thinking about is why the majority of the world economy represents nothing in the physical (real) world. We need to establish a currency that actually represents physical value rather than just numbers with debt attached.
I'd rather see the EU crash and burn than for it to become a single state. Let's hope they don't force their undemocratic ways on Europe once again just to keep raking in cash.
Your argument is as flawed as it is mind numbingly foolish. Humans share a lot in common, and I have noticed that the internet has helped to show this. If the EU were to implement universal internet access for all its residents, eliminate all borders to movement and implement free teaching of English to all people in the union then all the nations in Europe will fade away and allow for a greater Europe.
Well Denmark's doing pretty well so I suppose if it's the same shit, it may very well be decent shit.
True, it's nowhere near the bullshit going on in the US. Still annoying though.
I think what we should really be thinking about is why the majority of the world economy represents nothing in the physical (real) world. We need to establish a currency that actually represents physical value rather than just numbers with debt attached.
The idea of needing a physical representation of wealth has been pretty much abandoned by every economy in the world capable of doing it. It makes trade 10,000X easier and it's actually pretty smart.
I think Europe should become its own country, that way you don't have that much work to do in geography class.
get this man into office
They should federalize. right now it's a mess of passports every time you go from a country to another. It's also a benefit of free tariffs between each other, it'll encourage growth. You'll have a standard currency, and it'll be more powerful than even possibly the pound. There's a lot of benefits, but the draw back is the loss of power for member states. they can't hold their own army. But the military would be on par with the united states, For instance, German tanks, UK aircraft, You'd be very technologically advanced. Destroy the patient system and rebuild it, you'll become a powerhouse, Discourage importing from china and other asian countries and you'll have an entire new leaf, along with trading with middle eastern countries, you can cause them to industrialize, possibly revolutionizing the entire way the world works.
Diversity that obviously doesn't work? I'll assume you're referring to your prejudice against Muslims.
No i'm referring to the fucked up diversity in between the countries. Why should countries that follow guidelines and properly handle their economy be dragged down by countries that lies and deceive.
I want Europe to become one giant country fuck the haters :D [editline]9th December 2011[/editline]
I think that we should either go the whole hog and reform the EU so it's a proper federal Republic with a constitution and proper elections, or get rid of the politics entirely and have it as just a fiscal union. Not the current undemocratic hodge-podge we have now, where the Euro MPs aren't publicly accountable and the average joe doesn't know jack about how the system even works.
this. let's do it right now, it'll be like the US but with fewer idiots in power
I hope europe will be ok :( I feel like Europe would be the last place in the world to fall apart, like, it's like where all Modern Western Civilization started. I think that to be a part of my heritage, I'm Australian, Irish, English, Ukranian and Dutch, all mixed in there. [editline].[/editline] It would be like my soul breaking apart :(
I'd rather see the EU crash and burn than for it to become a single state. Let's hope they don't force their undemocratic ways on Europe once again just to keep raking in cash.
Oh, it's you again
The faster Europe becomes a single nation state with the same universal laws and social care the better. The union splintering apart makes it worse. Europeans should unite. We have far too much in common. I would much prefer a Europe in which I can go anywhere in it without crossing a single national border. I want to go to anywhere in Europe without some nationalist bastard telling me otherwise.
there's been few times where I'll agree with you sobotnik, but this is definitely one of those times
News this morning is that the Euro countries are unable to come to an agreement about the new treaty, messures are being taken as what to do with the currency!
EU will never happen because the nationalism of "European" doesn't exist.
Wait, is that bad or good?
Incredibly bad. All thanks to the British Prime Minister: David Cameron. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/david-cameron-defiant-on-eu-treaty-veto-6274562.html
"We wish them well because we want everyone to sort out their problems because we all need that (economic) growth," he said. He denied any deeply damaging rift as a result, saying: "There were strong disagreements but it was good-natured. People understood each other. That relationship will be maintained and will work well, but at the end of the day I made my judgment that it was not in Britain's interests (to take part).
He's just completely fucked up everything for the whole of the EU.
We already are, at least the major states are any way (like Germany, Britain and France)
Ahahaahahahaha! Two reasons: 1.) Germany is acting like a hippy pussy. 2.) Britain and France can't do shit much in international stage unless they cooperate more (in which the British public are against. I don't know about the French public). Take Libya for example, shows what a disaster the European coalition and the CSDP is. Fucking "Merkel Method".
How does everyone not fucking hate David Cameron by now?
How does everyone not fucking hate David Cameron by now?
Senile old people. Apparently there's A-LOT of them and it seems like Cameron targets them for their votes.
real reason Cameron vetoed the treaty was to avoid giving the British people a referendum or at least something on those lines
From what I understand Britain don't agree with the policy of ECB's price controls and would rather see it act like the American Federal Reserve. France and Germany won't have that though.

Not only were France and Britain mortal enemies back in the days of imperialism but contrary to popular belief France used to be one of the most aggressive nations in Europe. That kind of thing tends to stay rooted in your culture for a very long time.
Oh and London Bankers being regulated and taxed.
Italy is fucked. Our debt alone amounts to 24'000'000'000 euros. Billions. Probably no one has ever told you about this, But our education is failing, our WELFARE is failing, unemployment is higher than ever, taxes are skyrocketing. Inflation made the price double in 10 years.. We're falling back to the second world. And there's no way out. We're dragging down the rest of Europe I know, with our greek and hispanic brothers and sisters, but what can we do? My university is even goin to shut down. I'll never find a job. I'll end up fucking harvesting rice or tobacco in someone else's land. And I'm really saddened, bacause I've never been patriotic to my land as I've been toward the whole europe, I've been looking up to you guys for so long. :(

As for the idea that there is no real sentiment of European nationalism, that is quite wrong here in Belgium at least. Pretty much everyone I know calls himself either Flemish or Walloon (if they're separatists) or European (if they don't really care, which most don't.) We've had this discussion in class as well, and everyone agrees that Europeans are too similar to really be different nations. A federation like the USA would be good. Obviously a single class isn't a good reference, but we're in Brussels, where there's an equal split of foreigners, Flemish and Walloons. The only problem I have with the EU is how we got the same coin BEFORE getting a more centralised and more united economical situation. They should've made regulations and formed a solid basis before making everyone use the same coin.
How on Earth will the EU limit democracy?
By not letting shitty racist people pass shitty racist laws.

European nations are so different to each other in many different ways.
