I doubt something like this will get very popular. A sort of small scale Heinkel Lerche might be more practical, especially with a closed cockpit. Could be like a VTOL version of a Bede BD-5 without the horror. Ducted fans are great designs though.
that would be like trying to row a canoe in space
rowing a canoe in space would be awesome
that would be like trying to row a canoe in space
*Pointless flashback ensues* Fuck you, Family Guy.
I got a fright when he used the parachute, i thought the jetpack stopped working.
I think I'll keep my Grand Prix... though this is still pretty cool.
That's not really the most convenient thing to use daily.
it heavily reminds me of; [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] all we need now is the bombs
Lol fuck that what makes you think I wanna fly with that thing strapped on my back?
I wonder if cops will use these.
I see no jets on it. That's no jetpack. :colbert:
smaller than a car
Yeah but if your car breaks down while you're driving, you don't fall to your death.
What about when you go to work?
Where do you put your car when you go to work? The parking lot. [editline]30th May 2011[/editline]
fans don't work in space
Radiation pressure bro. It can use the radiation like air.
Jetpacks or personal flying machines will never replace cars, sadly.
Yeah but if your car breaks down while you're driving, you don't fall to your death.
Brakes fail or steering locks up you might skid out of control to your death. Worse for motorcycles too, if we're keeping up that analogy.
Jetpacks or personal flying machines will never replace cars, sadly.
But can't they at least replace mopeds and segways?
More convenient than getting stuck in traffic for 3 hours. Also it's not too much bigger than a motorcycle so you can store it in your garage pretty easily.
I'd never put that thing in a garage, imagine trying to get it out. It would blow if it blew all your stuff away and you'd also most possibly end up getting stuck under the roof.
Radiation pressure bro. It can use the radiation like air.
But wouldn't the radiation kill you ?
looks dangerous, as in a single part fails and you die
Why is this called a Jetpack when it clearly has no jet engine. [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] I'm calling it a Hoverpack.
Looks to me like it'd be about as practical as my motorcycle. You can't use one of those in the rain or for hauling anything either, depending on terrain long distance is out, and they're not always the most fuel efficient things on the road, but fun to use and make your normal drives less boring.
Except motorcycles are very fuel efficient.
Hang a garbage bag from the bottom and put your groceries and/or kids in there
Then the kids get caught in the fan.
I'd be afraid it would fall forward when I was taking off and crush me.
Why is this called a Jetpack when it clearly has no jet engine. [editline]30th May 2011[/editline] I'm calling it a Hoverpack.
Well you see, popular culture dictates that anything strapped to your back that makes you fly is a jetpack.
Looks like a fun recreational vehicle. Not sure I see any practical uses for it though.
I see no jets on it. That's no jetpack. :colbert:
You're right... Its a... fanpack!
Yeah but if your car breaks down while you're driving, you don't fall to your death.
I imagine you'd take a parachute up with you, so it's not like you're guaranteed to die. Only difference is when your car breaks down it doesn't fall a thousand feet and shatter to pieces.
you'd be in faa violation flying at that height
Lets hope this is the future of personal travel. Bout fuckin time.
Just wish it ran more than half an hour. You can't get anywhere good in half an hour especially at that speed.
Are you seriously trying to tell me that Jet Packs are just as safe as cars.
Motorcycles.
Except motorcycles are very fuel efficient.
The fun ones sure as hell aren't! A lot of modern small cars beat bigger/older/sportier/awesomer bikes.
there's going to be at least 10 people in the first year of public release that pass out or have a stroke in the sky or something and plummet directly into buildings
there's going to be at least 10 people in the first year of public release that pass out or have a stroke in the sky or something and plummet directly into buildings
I'm guessing it'll be classified as an ultralight and you don't hear of tons of accidents with those
