Oh boy here we go: "Physicists May Have Evidence Universe Is A Computer Simulation"

Maybe we are living in a computer simulation... and it's creators ultimate goal was for it to become aware of itself... and now that's happened they're gonna restart the simulation. Or instead they might, now that they've "completed the game", start messing around with mods and cheat codes and spawn and teleport shit everywhere
Must have been running Apple maps when we thought the world was flat.
If this is true, would that mean there would be an afterlife?
I would be able to see my dead relatives again.

There might be, but it still wouldn't be any more real. You'd be no closer to reality or consciousness, and it might even just be the same ol' black void, where you wouldn't even have the illusion of consciousness. An afterlife would be possible, but it would essentially just be a different map - Heaven or Hell would be no more real simply because of the possibility of us experiencing them.
Nevertheless, assuming that the universe is finite and therefore the
resources of potential simulators are finite, then a volume containing a simulation will be
finite and a lattice spacing must be non-zero, and therefore in principle there always remains
the possibility for the simulated to discover the simulators.
I love racking my head around these concepts!
This cold im fighting seems pretty real to me... :tinfoil:

thats what they want you to believe
I have to admit the overall concept reminds me of a relatively bad movie called "The Thirteenth Floor".

What if we all just wake up in pods after we die
To continue our afterlife as our actual life with the other people who 'died' when really our sim lifespan is about 10 actual minutes
To see all the people you loved and knew, just bald headed people in 1 piece suits stuck in simulation pods
I should stop before this gets deeper
Lets say we're the 'real universe.'
If we created 2 fake universes with similar scales, the likelyhood of living in a fake universe would be 2 to 1.
The universes can go 'down' a limited number of times due to the nature of computation in our universe, but it can go 'up' an infinite number of times because each universe is likely to be more and more complicated. It's entirely possible that a universe capable of simulating ours operates on fundamentally different logic. The next universe up might be infinite in size and not constrained by time, and the universe simulating that universe might therefore be capable of simulating something infinite. It's impossible to accurately speculate about these things because they defy our reasoning by their very definition.
Goedel Incompletness forbids going up much higher, not sure but I think even 2 degrees is a stretch
It has also been suggested that the MUH is inconsistent with Gödel's incompleteness theorem. In a three-way debate between Tegmark and fellow physicists Piet Hut and Mark Alford,[8] the "secularist" (Alford) states that "the methods allowed by formalists cannot prove all the theorems in a sufficiently powerful system... The idea that math is "out there" is incompatible with the idea that it consists of formal systems." Tegmark's response in [8] (sec VI.A.1) is to offer a new hypothesis "that only Godel-complete (fully decidable) mathematical structures have physical existence. This drastically shrinks the Level IV multiverse, essentially placing an upper limit on complexity, and may have the attractive side effect of explaining the relative simplicity of our universe."

What if we are only just here to learn for our real lifes so when you die you actually are born in your not simulated life and depending on what you learned here you will cope with the real one?
No wait a minute that's essentially paradise/hell.
How do I edit my stats?
gotta put some points into 'attractive'

They called me crazy when I saw physics glitch, but soon they'll realized. They'll all realize when I find the noclip command.
I wonder if the big bang was kickstarted via Ctrl+Alt+Del and an admin password?
sudo rm -rf /
Cmd: God
Godmode on.

I distinctly remember banning a guy for making threads about how he got hit by a car and it clipped through him leaving him unharmed
even if we were in a simulation, so what. Do we just give up as a race? We can't escape this simulation and be something else.
EZ, we pull a Terminator and make robots to fight a relentless war against our former benefactors with!
of course!
Ghosts are actually people that use the godmode and noclip commands!
Jokes on them, the people who run the simulation we're in are in a simulation themselves :v:
On the upside if this were true, I'd be more comfortable with death.
I would either be "reincarnated" as someone else or even better, put into a different simulator.
Think about it, if we are just in a simulation, then how many simulations could there be running at once?
or probably the universe is simulated at the atomic level and you just die like normal
-snip, how did I miss the last 3 pages!?-
No. You have it all wrong.
It's multiplayer.
Requesting that incredibly long image about how real life is better than video games saying "imagine a world were you can do anything" and "play with all sorts of crazy characters" and at the end it says "and this is you" and there is a picture of a guy with his pants off in front of his computer.

Am I the only player surrounded by NPC's? I can control myself but not others.
This really has no affect on my life view, while I do not follow a specific religious text or teaching, I already believed in a higher power or creator. Why should I care if said creator is a programer?
The whole idea of "reality" is just silly anyway. How do I define a material object? What I can create in Blender is just as real as a "physical" object, in my (fucked up) point of view. Who the hell cares if the universe is a figment of a computer's imagination? I can continue with my daily life. The only really disturbing thought is if I'm the only thing that exists and all of you and my friends and family are simply parts of the world.
Says EA: "That's why multiplayer is better!"
Maybe hitler was using apt to get rid of the jews all along
Looks like he forgot to sudo.
Sudo apt get rid of all the jews.
