Capcom Wants Your Honest And Frank Opinion About A Resident Evil 2 Remake

RE2 is probably my most favorite game and I still play it on occasion. So I'd really like them to do this.
It's actually what got me interested in texturing/modding.
That would be nice cause it's getting harder everytime I have to reinstall my old Retail boxed copies.
Back in 2006 they rereleased tweaked versions for PC, but only in Japan. And only with Japanese text and menus.

Now i'm just half-imagining someone ripping RE2's and 3's models and content, recreating the gameplay in a fan engine, and getting an Outbreak-style multiplayer system going as everyone runs about in RE2&3 with the old graphics and content.

Wow, that looks pretty great.
They should remake it ad give it two control schemes:
Classic tank controls and third person controls like RE4
remake HD kinda had something like this, there were tank controls and then there was a control scheme that let you instantly run in any direction. they could just go with that again
i really hope something good comes of this though. i started re2 a while ago but school and other things got in the way and i haven't played since. at this point i think i'll just hold out for the re2 remake, i just hope they do it justice
I want another Resident Evil Movie.......
:v:
In all honesty though, another Dino Crisis would be amazing, I liked them better.
Frank Opinion had my hype levels go overboard cause I thought it was talking about Dead Rising, then I read the rest and it went down...I really want DR1 for PC, why don't you want my money?
Anyway, this is pretty great, they should just remake RE2,3 and Code Veronica as well.

Just get DR2 and Off the record DLC. It's probably the best DR experience you can get. But the crafting stuff makes killing stuff super easy compared to using random weapons in DR1.
I've not encountered any issues yet.
Also for people that had to endure the original PC version, it's a godsend.
Makes me wonder just how bad the original pc version was if the HD version is considered better
HD version runs like arse for me, crashes every now and then, audio desyncs during cutscenes and doesn't display right keys during the quick time events
and that's just what i got from first hour of the game
um wasn't the facebook post in reference to the RE2 Fan Project
I think they're trying to garner a general opinion on it, and if they feel it respects the representation of the company and the game itself.

As someone who completed RE4 on the PC way back in '07 it's a big mess. Textures look shite, FMVs look like they're in 240p and the controls automatically assume you've got a controller and so quicktime prompts have stuff like "2 + 3" leaving you to figure out which keys are binded to their respective controls through trial and error (I triggered sticky keys a load of times in the process). You can't rebind keys either and to top it off you have to aim with the keys if you don't have a controller since there's no native mouse support. Try nailing an enemy's weak spot when you have to hold down right shift to ready your weapon, WASD to aim and the enter key to shoot. The only worse port I've seen is Devil May Cry 3 which doesn't even work properly with controllers.
I really do want this to happen, but only if Capcom is willing to listen to the fans and avoid shitting all over it like they have with recent games.
If they do make a remake I hope it won't look as daft as Operation Raccoon city looked, set in 1998 with technology from the far future with anime mercenaries.

There's a lot they could do. Look at all the content they added to the REmake. They're not on old-gen tech anymore, so they could expand the city area before hitting the RPD. In the RPD, they could change things around like delaying the first licker encounter so that people won't expect it as much and reintroduce elements from REmake (defensive weapons, crimson heads) for added tension. Maybe expand on [sp] Marvin's (that wounded cop you find in the RPD) role so he's more than just "the only black zombie in the game."[/sp] It'd also be awesome if they just rewrote some of the plot overall in certain aspects like they did with REmake.
Funny enough i started to play RE2 a few days ago and i don't understand why people would be against this?
If its a flop ignore it, if its good play it.

I really didnt understand the point behind that game.
It was utter crap. Gave nothing to the franchise other than wasted time.
each game has their own op weapons though for sure
dr1's being the mini chainsaws + durability books
dr2's being knife gloves (and otr as well but they nerfed them slightly)
dr3's anything because everything in that game is op
Mini saws + 3 durability books = like 1000 kills per chainsaw. Loved that combo. Only thing I love more is the mega buster.
remake it and hire ( even just temporally Shinji Mikami/Hideki Kamiya )
they will fuck it up, they can't even properly remake an older remake. The old Zero and RE1 teams are not around and are the new team will not put in the time and effort to properly do this
I think the resident evil 2 fan mod will be better than anything capcom could come up with unless they do something serious like the first Resident evil remake.
Feel free to call me insane but I would love an open worldish aspect in this game. I mean we're returning to Raccoon City aren't we? I'm just asking for a chance to explore a doomed city.
The big problem with any of these ideas is its hard to picture these kinds of things in RE2.

Shinji Mikami is a hack. Both of his 'dream projects' The Evil Within and Shadows of the Damned are pretty distinctly not good games. They've got their merits, but they are strange and not always fun games.

eh I don't know but I do agree with should get to see more of the city both in main mission's and bouns misson's before the RPD
Pretty sure the RE2 Remake is happening now

Why? They're pieces of shit
- sNip -
Personally, I just want a graphically updated RE2.
I don't know what they're asking. They're making it sound like they want to know if we'd want shit from the newer games or something. I mean sure it'd be an interesting experience playing RE2 with an RE4 perspective and a friend (though I have 0 fucking clue how they'd implement this without fucking the story), I doubt very many people would want those.
I mean I'd play it, but people are going to bitch just on principle regardless of if it's optional.
REmake strayed pretty far from the original and added many new elements to the game, hopefully they'll do the same here (just not add bad elements like anything from re6)
Ah, I see what you're saying now.
Yeah shit if they give it actual shit like [sp]zombies not staying dead[/sp] then I could se this shit being awesome.

I would imagine they have a Microsoft console exclusivity deal on DR1 and they don't want to remaster it just so they can sell it on anything else.
