You must have been playing with some pretty damn tiny rugby balls.
I'm talking about the tip of a rugby ball
[editline]13th March 2012[/editline]
must be a bad case of a weak bone/muscle disease or something to cause death.
I don't think 12 year-old girls normally have strong bones
Luckily another student was able to take a picture of the incident as the ball was being thrown
Yeah, see, dodgeball is hardcore in the UK. Getting hit with a rugby ball would hurt.
You're right that it's sore. I once took a drop-kicked rugby ball on the cheek.
That was fun.
I remember in primary school one of the kids got hit in the face, he got up and said he was ok, a few seconds later BLOOD EVERYWHERE, the teacher ran over to him to see if he was ok... the kid sneezed on him.
This is why PE should be banned!
God forbid we make our children...I hate the word...
This is why PE should be banned!
Not PE.
Just dodgeball.
I especially hate those who aim for the head.
I once hit a whiffleball into someone's throat. I stopped running to see if the pitcher was ok because he fell to the floor.. My team told me to keep running. I thought my team was full of inconsiderate bastards.
People really should wear protection when playing with a ball or anything else that can hit with force.
If that happened to everyone who got hit I'd be a mass murderer by the age of 9
Then I guess I am beyond human.
I'm the worst soccer goalkeeper ever. My face has been hit hundreds of times, and this one time, the guys playing against me were such bastards that even kicked me in the stomach and kicked at a meter away from me. I still remember that day, however, I don't know how I didn't bleed or anything
Just another reason rugby is a shit sport, kills little girls.
Just another reason rugby is a shit sport, kills little girls.
Good sport :v:
There's also this thing going around on facebook (as this happened in Essex (Where I live)) where some girl from the school said
"I hope she dies so we get a day off"
You guys should see her facebook wall, seriously.
I remember I watched a show on discovery where a kid got hit on the chest with a baseball and almost died.
fuck, imagine being the kid that actually threw the ball..
I dunno, it potentially might be much worse to be the girl.

I'd like to keep my brain in one piece so no thanks.
The person who threw the ball must feel so guilty
I would be depressed for the rest of my life.
a girl being hit by a ball and dying later, thats just unbelievable.
it proves how vulnerable the human body is
It proves how fickle the human body is. You can beat someone to a bloody pulp and they will still survive, but weird little things can cripple or kill a person.
People are both incredibly sturdy and incredibly fragile at the same time.
She was a nine years old girl, what did you expect? A grown up's body can withstand a lot more force than a child's body will.

First image I found from google that has a 9-year old girl with her parents in it. Imagine how big the rugby ball is compared to her as compared to her dad's size for example. That fact itself explains the incident pretty well, throwing a rugby ball at a person who's as small as her is like throwing a light( which are still kind of heavy ) bowling ball at a grown up.
Dodge or die! :D
Shockingly enough it turns out 9 year old girls bodies aren't suited to playing rugby.
Who knew.

Yep, hit somebody in just the right way and they can die, stab them in the back of the head and they might not even notice.
Look how many people die just tripping in their own home.
I once got hit in the cheek by one of those not so softballs. I can't imagine how a rugby ball would feel like...
one of my teammates got hit twice by fast softballs.
Both of them hit his head. His lucky it happened in different training sessions.
One of time he got hit is by one that got hit by a heavy batter.Youch
I had a doctors note from a broken hand that I somehow managed to get to work through all of high school, avoided all PE except for Tennis which I chose to do, still surprised I got away with it.
dude I didn't even have a note and I haven't done PE for five years running
and that is how you become Skeletor
Getting hit by a football to the head at high speed is very painful. This is why they wear helmets for American Football. Though strangely, a soccer ball don't hurt as much as a pigskin if it hits your head.
Ban sports! they kill our children!
-Brought to you by the "ban video-games because they make our children murderers" association of the world.
This is NOT helping my fear of giant balls going for my face.
What a shame.
What a rotten way to die.
Dodgeball is hardcore in the UK.
it is, we've knocked out a PE teacher playing it a few years ago
This is why PE should be banned!
Death penalty for the rugby ball.
Get the garden fork.
What, wouldn't there be at least a bone from the skeleton to prevent the impact from reaching key organs?
I mean there couldn't be heart problems. Plus didn't something similar happen to a boy but died slower?
Dodgeball is hardcore in the UK.
That's so funny and so terrible
