I don't see why Facepunch would be blocked. There's nothing piratey here or you get banned.
Have you ever looked at the models/skins section?
I've never really understood what a pocket veto is. It sounds like something that could be abused in the wrong hands so I'm guessing he can only do it once per term or something?
Basically the president just holds onto a bill until nothing can be done with it. IIRC it only works if congress has adjourned

Or the music section? Or the photography section? Or the apple section, the way apple patents things today I'm sure that violates a few copyrights.
Have you ever looked at the models/skins section?
Let's not try to give reasons as to why facepunch could/would be shutdown.
(I'll give a reason for concern though, look at the lawsuit with Garry and the company that was angry because someone posted a news article.)

Well congress will go on a month's vacation immediately after the vote, so I guess that means if he actually does pocket veto the bill it will work.

They sure do deserve a vacation after all that

Polis has the right idea here. Tax money shouldn't be going to protect private enterprise, be it the pornography or banking industry.

Watched the video in the link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8XSo0etBC4&feature=related); realized that my comment I made over a year ago is the top comment. Winner?
I guess this means xhamster, xvideos, redtube, youporn, pornhub, and all the other good porn sites are gonna be toast too. This bill is literally going to destroy any part of the web that's worth a damn, because the entire thing is essentially built on enjoying copyrighted content for free.

I honestly don't think it has anything to do about that. It seems to me to be entirely a political move in that plenty of people in congress aren't gonna want to support a bill that makes the attorney general defend pornographers.

I'd like to see you sit through 10 hours of dense prose, long arguments, and political opponents daily.
Is there any chance SOPA will reach outside of USA? Like how RIAA thinks they operate worldwide.

The bill itself is within the US. However the results of the bill in the US alone will probably effect the rest of the world.

Or more importantly the [sp]redacted[/sp] section?

I really wouldn't fucking mind doing that, compared to half the jobs people are forced to take due to the economic situation.
I even get the best benefits in America.

Most websites are hosted wholly or in part, in US-based datacentres. All of these will be affected.
Think of Silicon Valley, CA as well. Most website startups grow there and most flourish and thrive there. Think Google, Facebook, Youtube, and pretty much every single one of Alexa's top 10,000 or so websites (excluding some national websites) are US-based too..

Gay. I hate how they enforce shit outside.

For $165,000+ a year, they can fucking deal with it.

He should run for pres.

If it passes the first thing I'm going to do is run out to Wal-Mart, buy as many of those 8gb USB flash drives as I can possibly find, run back home, and go on a fucking legendary porn gathering mission for no less than three straight weeks.
I will create the virtual version of the Library of Alexandria... and it will be full of pornography for me to enjoy for at least a few years.
Why not get a External HDD?
Why not get a External HDD?
I have a thing for flash drives. They're so tiny and portable...
Yeah but, unless you plan the label them. I would advise at least getting a External HDD, even it's it's only 40GB.

Well if they can get a month of vacations for arguing ten hours a day at the congress, I don't see why soldiers shouldn't get at least three years of vacations for risking their life 24 hours a day in war zones.
