Japan didn't surrender after the war had its winning side settled, so the US was forced to do it, or else the war would have been extended a few more months or maybe an year. They just wanted to end it asap.

I doubt it. The goal was to put Japan in a position where they couldn't win despite their huge army. Adding that radiation would kill the population even after the explosion would only make it more fearsome.

America already basically won the war, dropping the bombs was basically a good measure move and to show off our power to Russia and cordially invite them to go fuck themselves. We had always planned to make Japan our ally once we gave it a spanking, so it doesn't make much sense to cover them in radiation.
