Not anymore all expanded universe is canned canonically
lets hope "awakened" doesn't mean everyone gets jesus level force powers ie they just make the movie 90% flashy lightsaber fights
oh god hope that's not to much the case I like it better when a Jedi was rare.
The jedi were rare because their entire culture was declared illegal and all who followed it were executed. So no shit that now the Empire is weakened at the end of Ep6 and Luke can train a new order to protect the peace and ideals of the Republic, why is it bad that they will have a more prominent presence other then "protagonist finds out his family was of a knightly mystical order and he's the last one left forever."
I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUGE Star Wars fanboy (I'll even defend the prequels) but I'm really not a fan of the subtitle...sounds kinda mediocre and generic honestly...
Perhaps it's more about the jedi culture dying out during episode 6. There are only a handful of jedi that use the force, it's an old and forgotten culture after all. The force awakens might indicate that Luke has trained tons of new jedis and that they are far more present in the galaxy than previously. Similar to Episode 1 and 2.
Wasn't Luke pretty much the only living Jedi at the end of ROTJ? I mean Yoda fucked off to the spirit world, Anakin went down with the Death Star, Obi Wan pulled some Gandalf shit sans coming back from the dead... To be honest I'd like them to take Leia and explore that side of the force. The whole 'there is another' line set that up really nicely.
A New Hope The Phantom Menace Holiday Special They're all pretty vague
Yes, vague, but they still all have a certain mystique and sort of...elegance to them, per say. This one just feels sort of...eh.

(Seeing Palpatine torturing his child is what made Vader kill him) And what do you even mean by the second part? The "there is another" thing just pointed out that Leia and Luke were siblings. Do you think there's like a female "side" of the force or something?
It's alright and vague which is safe. So far we have no idea what to expect and a neutral title like that will keep everyone wanting for more.
I always assumed that they were referring to Leia also having the potential to be a Jedi
She does. The whole thing was, they were training Luke as a Jedi to fight Vader, and they were concerned that if he died hope would be lost. Yoda mentions Leia as a contingency, if Luke were to fail, they would have to train her to fight him in his place. I still don't see what you mean by "that side of the force" though. [editline]banana[/editline] I mean, Carrie Fisher is 60 years old now so I doubt they're going to suddenly make Jedi Leia the focus for anything. Otherwise, if you're just looking for more stuff on Leia, in the EU she and Han get together and have some kids and they become Jedi, but she decides against training for herself, and in one of the DLCs for The Force Unleashed wherein Dark Starkiller kills Luke, Leia takes up the Saber in his place. (and she was stupid hard to beat too)
This title sounds forced!

Of course she's too old now to do an origin story. Tbh I never had much time for the EU
They should have named Episode 7 as "Star Wars" and Episode 8 as "Star Wars: Into Darkness"
Well in the context of the films, Luke was the only known remaining Jedi (that was sort of the point), and so I found it exciting to think that maybe Leia would be in on those powers too. Of course she's too old now to do an origin story. Tbh I never had much time for the EU
That was the implication before the Prequels came along, sure. But no matter how much some people don't like them, we can't just go around ignoring what they added. With the prequels, we now know that there are other Jedi, they're just all in hiding/have abandoned the Jedi ways to survive. And force sensitivity as a concept being added means there are literally countless potential Jedi throughout the Galaxy who only need training. And like I said Leia is capable of being a Jedi like Luke, I never said she wasn't. It's just that, in the context of the movies the "there is another" line only really served to point out that they were brother and sister. I never got too deep into the EU myself either, other than some of the comics. The Legacy comics in particular are my favorite.

Tbh I never had much time for the EU
I don't care about the EU either but considering the prequels I wouldn't find it very believable if Luke, Ob-Wan and Yoda were literally the last three surviving Jedis.

Looking at some of the possible leaked titles I really think its about an ancient powerful evil like an old Dark Jedi. If its anything like EU ancient dark Jedi made force users look like children in the Original and Prequel trilogy. Hence why its called The Force Awakens, because its a resurgence of power that hasn't been seen in a long time. We will just have to wait and find out. The first trailer will be at San Diego Comic Con since that's where Star Wars made its debut.
Damn, was really hoping for "Taking the Mickey"
I like Star Wars? I just prefer the non-force elements of the universe.
This is why Star Wars Galaxies was great pre-CU. It felt like you were a part of the universe and not THE EPIC FORCE USING HERO
Well its a fuckload better then "The Ancient Fear".
I remember that thread. The Longstanding Spooky still makes me chuckle.
you're just saying this because and oh god
that's fair, I'm really picky when it comes to Star Wars...as long as the movie is good the subtitle doesn't really matter I suppose
Waiting for that Force selfie taken through a mirror captioned with "Babe caught me sleeping".
The only thing the the Force did was force that terrible joke. Edit: I'm not innocent either.
Was hoping for Star Wars: Genysis
When did the force fall asleep? It seemed perfectly awake in Episode 6
It fell asleep watching the prequels.
I was hoping for Star Wars: Retribution... ...based on a true story.
A New Hope The Phantom Menace Holiday Special They're all pretty vague Even 'Star Wars' sounds pretty generic
We do not speak of this evil.
I Just hope the jedis are rare. like OT ant not the Prequels.
