US soldiers 'killed Afghan civilians for sport and collected fingers as trophies'

This is why the US Army is full of dipshit know nothings who were sent to do a Marine's job.
But if the stories are true, how the fuck does it matter?
[editline]05:42PM[/editline]
what, so it's okay for soldiers to go crazy and hunt people for sport, but when a civilian does the same thing for the same reason suddenly they're monsters?
There is a difference with saying that its okay and saying that you're not surprised.
^ This.
And tell me Kaven, you actually with the Airborne?
^ This.

Nope, a friend is though.
Controversy gives you high ratings, so yeah
Then why aren't there any "lies" being spread about the Scandinavian part of the ISAF forces? Wouldn't a story portraying peace-loving atheist "we-haven't-waged-a-war-for-two-centuries"-Swedes as bloodthirsty baby-killers be awesomely more juicy compared to the tired old US soldiers committing war atrocities? The idea wouldn't have spawned if there was no hints of evidence pointing at US soldiers in the first place.
It's an interesting ideology, that even if you're a complete failure in life the option of joining the US armed forces is always open.
The US Armed Forces are the ones who never lost a war, thank you.(Vietnam was Nixon's fault) It is the US Armed Forces that ACTUALLY can get shit done. It is the US ARMY that is on trial here. Incompetent as they are, even THEY can do a better job at shit that most can. Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and the Marines are the ones who truly get shit done. Think twice before talking out of your ignorant ass.

The US lost the Vietnam war, thats kind of obvious.
Sure, soldiers do stupid shit in war, but you can't deny that the Americans are the worst when it comes to this. Which of course has to do with the amount of troops stationed, but also by the lack of discipline and training compared to other countries.
I think if any other country was in a conflict like this we'd see the same amount of shit.
I think if any other country was in a conflict like this we'd see the same amount of shit.
Maybe, but any other country doesn't let anyone join the military.

Priceless.

But the US Army seems incapable of not going in there gung-ho. Vietnam was lost by the US Army's tactics, and it seems that a similar mistake is being made in the middle east. In wars where the enemy could be any civilian and they don't wear a uniform, "hearts and minds" and winning over the population is the key. If not everybody turns into enemies. The British in Malaysia had a very similar situation to Vietnam in a very similar time period, but they didn't napalm the jungle. They built roads, brought water to the civilians, and did the whole hearts and minds thing. This meant they got the information they needed and could identify the enemies. They won the war.

No doubt they are getting shit done. Doing it RIGHT however does not seem to be high priority.
EDIT: See above.
They need to keep sane somehow
oh wait
Fighting ideology and fueling it at the same time, I'm placing a bet that we aren't going to leave middle east at all. Probably leaving permanent bases behind.
Meh this is nothing compared to what slavs did there. US is still doing pretty good job there seeing as most of the civilians and willages are still in one piece. They are going in the right direction, but at a slug pace.

I've tried to explain this to people, but Americans just say "WHAT we have the best army on earth you fucking commie!"

They are doing it all wrong, the lawbringers want the fingers, you need ears for Littlehorn.

Actually you do have. Their dicipline is mediocre but nothing bad. Few bad examples here and there, like those three sporty fellas, and that one family murder dude. Others are quite allrite, don't let that few bad examples drag down the whole morale. For example that apache camera incident, that the whole media turned into a big fuzz over one incompetent suicidal reporter cunt getting his ass shot.

this isn't what happened at all.
journalist minding his own business walking down a street and a gung-ho gunner rips him apart.
he was hanging around the street with a gang of armed dudes, near an convoy under attack, carrying a suspiciously tubular looking object and he didn't even tell the troops he was fucking round that area. Also he peeked round the corner with the said tubular object.
He had it coming miles away. Good enough the gunner made it clear there were no registered personell in the area and asked for permission to engage. Everything was done according to the shitty US ROE. Just because he was bit eager to let the rounds fly doesn't make him the next hitler.

1. I'm British, moved here from America some 10 years ago mate.
2. Training and discipline isn't bad, true, but it's still pretty low compared to other major powers. Compared to the major EU nations, Russia, and China, American training is quite poor.

Wait, why would they lie? All I'm saying is that controversy sells, which means that they would love to point out anything bad about the US army and then make it seem that that's what the whole army is like.
Sure, soldiers do stupid shit in war, but you can't deny that the Americans are the worst when it comes to this. Which of course has to do with the amount of troops stationed, but also by the lack of discipline and training compared to other countries.
The US military is one of the most highly trained and disciplined armies in the world. We have won all but one and a half wars. Plus, troops of every nation do this shit, since the beginning of war.
"Oh, some British kill civilians. Well, everybody does bad things.
Oh, some Americans kill civilians. TERRIBLE TRAINING. TERRIBLE DISCIPLINE. OVERALL SHIT ARMY."
You make it seem like our army is a band of disorganized rabble.
Get your facts right.
Right, so worldwide media has some global conspiracy going on bent on making US soldiers look bad? Surely the US can't be at fault :downs:
Yeah, the U.S. does some bad things sometimes, but those are the only stories the media reports in other countries. It's not just our soldiers either, they report all kinds of bad shit, trying to make the U.S. seem like some kind of hell on earth.
I talked to a Brit once and he thought that people walk around with guns all the time and you get robbed or threatened the second you leave your house. Don't know how anyone could even think that.. It's just a fucking brainwash machine. I haven't watched the news in like 5 years.
Also, I find it funny how people say the U.S. should mind it's own business, when all the other countries are constantly looking at the U.S waiting for it's next move, constantly reporting on America. Don't they have better things to report?
yeah if anyone exposes corruption in the us military they must be a communist
brilliant, you should have run witch trials you seem to have the concept down well enough.
What a joke scorpio, radically proclaim me equal to those of witch hunts because I am pointing out a very obvious media bias (especially on FP). This is kind of like the whole deal with wikileaks articles as well. People say there are more nations involved in the leaks yet only the US ones are the most interesting to everyone.
I don't understand your silly "communist" comment neither, completely irrelevant to my comment but ok.
I guess it should come to no suprise to me when both recent articles of said killings posted on FP are from the same news source, The Guardian, being generally liberal to begin with...

This guy gets the idea, yes.
Has anyone thought that maybe because we make up 65% percent of the coalition (next highest is UK with 8%) that we have a higher proportion of incidents like this? Here's two stories of Polish soldiers committing war crimes (2% of the coalition)

I'd also like to see any support for the claim that the U.S. army is less disciplined compared to any other army in the world.

Of course we will be leaving permanent bases. That's kind of a given fact.

I'm going to make irrational judgements on the competence of the Polish military because of these articles. :downs:

Not every soldier is a "1337 black ops".
