US soldiers 'killed Afghan civilians for sport and collected fingers as trophies'
Sure, soldiers do stupid shit in war, but you can't deny that the Americans are the worst when it comes to this. Which of course has to do with the amount of troops stationed, but also by the lack of discipline and training compared to other countries.
I wouldn't say it's our training and discipline, that's fine, but it's probably our culture.

Or maybe its just war. People do shit like this in war.

The average American Caucasian teenager, bread and butter of recruitment, has an unrealistic perspective on current events, is likely to be racist in some way, and believes the shit from CoD.
I don't know if that's how it rolls in the UK, EU, AU, etc, but it's pretty common here.

Of course years of combat fucks people up, but there's a cultural aspect to it.
Way to generalize the army.
"THEY ARE ALL STUPID RACISTS!"

If I implied that I didn't mean it.
Teenagers are likely to be dumb and if they join the army they join with their backwardass ideals.
Hurf durf "only americans" hurf
I'm so tired of hearing shit like this, in response to both the thread content and all those posts...

Or maybe it's the fact that...you know, people like you give America massive media attention every mistake they make?
Because lets face it, the world just loves making the United States look bad. Notice how it was a US recruit that reported it too. I like how everyone missed that part...
You must be very :fsmug:

Uh no, teenagers aren't as dumb as your autistic superiority complex makes you believe
I hope these assholes all get life sentences back in the states.

I'm sorry, but they kind of are.
There are loads of exceptions, but the average teen is pretty dumb.
That's crazy

By the way, I'm sorry for being so rude, don't know why I said it that way.
And well, yeah they aren't as smart as adults but they aren't the type of people that think COD = real life, they just think it's a lot of fun and shit.

I've seen it before, but you're right that probably doesn't apply on a large scale.

Yeahh, there are definitely some but DEFINITELY not most.
The US lost the Vietnam war, thats kind of obvious.
We could have won at the expense of more lives and more money, but in the end the better option was pulling out.
but what if that apple is rotten IN THE CORE (apple core)
The core's not rotten, just some seeds.
Yeahh, there are definitely some but DEFINITELY not most.
What concerns me is the fact that a lot of teens are most motivated to join the military.
What concerns me is the fact that a lot of teens are most motivated to join the military.
From what I've seen a lot of this motivation is from their relatives. I'm thinking about trying to become a pilot like my grandad, one friends joining the marines because his fathers pressuring him, and another is joining because of his uncle.
What concerns me is the fact that a lot of teens are most motivated to join the military.
That's because they don't know what to do in their life, so they believe the military will teach them good things, and they'll be able to pay for college afterwards. It's a good idea, but it has a large risk during war time.

I mean, specifically, the teens that are motivated by Call of Duty.

That's not too common around these parts as far as I can tell.
However, my neighborhood is relatively liberal.
War may fuck with the heads of the young men, really just boys, who go over there to fight it, but there is no excuse for this type of unwarranted brutality. These Afghan civilians are just as human as the rest of us and they do not deserve the treatment that is being far too commonplace by our armed forces.
Fucks sake this is a PROFESSIONAL fighting force. Can't they discipline and train their soldiers correctly? This may not be anywhere as bad as it, but we're slowly, slowly, slipping towards how the Imperial Japanese troops conducted themselves in WWII. Do we really want that?
Herp derp I am British I know everything and I'm always right and I'm the best in the world and everybody else sucks.
This entire thread is :downs:, totally discreditting the intelligence (or lack thereof) of the FP user base.

This is nothing even remotely similar to what the Japanese did.
The fact that it pales in comparison in terms of the acts themselves, but also because they are being PUT ON TRIAL FOR IT. This is NOT how a US soldier behaves and they will be punished accordingly.
I hope they get life in prison. Preferably a military prison because those are EXTRA fucked up.
Those men deserve worse than life in prison.
Being from the US doesn't come into the equation, he's just a sick individual and where he's from has nothing to do with it.
Exactly this. The world is literally watching every move the US makes with this war.
you kind of HAVE to when you have a prominently corrupt military in a useless war.
The US Armed Forces are the ones who never lost a war, thank you.(Vietnam was Nixon's fault)
what's a commander in chief?
Someone who's at fault when it fails and who's given no credit when everything succeeds? :downs:

I don't know what to do with life, may as well go kill people :D
how does that make any sense?

Slaughtering and torture is in the ball park, boyo.
it's not military justice that's the big problem, it's the military in general.

Except the US military is far more likely to do this shit
Except the US military is far more likely to do this shit
We're a large portion of the coalition forces so more of these things will happen with US soldiers.
