they should allow bloatware but prevent it from being reinstalled on reset like mentioned in the article
bloatware is the worst fuck that if i want it i will install it. i should not have to reset just to remove it
Longer than that. I formatted and installed 8, which didn't take too long, but the endless mountain of fucking updates took forever.
Windows being terrible with updates is just one of those things you can set your fucking watch to.
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1457049
Did people actually think the focus was on the Mobile 10 part of the slide? I didn't say "it must be disabled", I said "OEMs can choose to disable toggling of Secure Boot", which would obviously mean that the desktop part of that slide fit like a glove just fine, but SOMEHOW Scratch. and co automatically ignored the desktop part of it even though I made no reference to Mobile 10.

I wonder how will disallowing bloatware work with drivers? No more preinstalled drivers? Or what if drivers contain bloatware?
They should allow bloatware on a disk like how hardware ships drivers, and google chrome is on every one I have
My motherboard came with a bunch of cool stuff on a disk, mostly power user essentials. It was really convenient.

That is pretty great.
Windows being terrible with updates is just one of those things you can set your fucking watch to.
I'd set my watch to it but I think it'd die before I'm done
I smell antitrust lawsuit coming. Manufacturers will fight hard against it like they have done before in the past.
Don't try to fight microsoft on anti-trust laws You will lose
Don't try to fight microsoft on anti-trust laws You will lose
...well, sort of. Their late 90s/early 2000s kerfuffle resulted in a push. Nobody but the house won: Microsoft wasn't forced to break up after all, and Netscape faded away only to be picked up by Mozilla with Firefox, then it came back from the dead half a decade later and subsequently is dying YET AGAIN due to Google Chrome.
