I know, was just poking fun at the coast guard.
Why does everyone poke fun at the Coast Guard? They save lives on a daily basis. It's like poking fun at firefighters. Not cool man.
I don't think they have any kind of attack planned, that would be suicide.
aren't they used to suicide missions?
Is that a fishing vessel in the background of that pic? They can't HONESTLY be thinking of taking those to taunt the us marine border! LOL And is that a 25mm bofors class AA gun at the bow? LOL
I also see some missles and such, but its a small patrol vessel not a destroyer. Its probably a stock image, that looks like coast guard. List of their in-service vessels... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_ships_of_the_Iranian_Navy
aren't they used to suicide missions?
Different group.
Why does everyone poke fun at the Coast Guard? They save lives on a daily basis. It's like poking fun at firefighters. Not cool man.
Don't some people in Europe do that? I heard about it once.
Why does everyone poke fun at the Coast Guard? They save lives on a daily basis. It's like poking fun at firefighters.
It's not like the act of saving lives turns them into super sensitive politically correct soccer mums
And thank god for that, too.
Seems like a giant waste of money to me
I don't really see what they're hoping to accomplish here. Besides: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Praying_Mantis
The predicted 2012 apocalypse seems like it might actually become a reality more and more every day...
Is that a fishing vessel in the background of that pic? They can't HONESTLY be thinking of taking those to taunt the us marine border! LOL And is that a 25mm bofors class AA gun at the bow? LOL
yeah it is LOL
Are people reading? Tbe US is doing the same thing.
"Commander of the Navy of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran"
Ok
I don't really see what they're hoping to accomplish here. Besides: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Praying_Mantis
Why does every country have such silly operation names?
Iran is well within its rights to conduct naval operations in international waters, respecting the 19km territorial limit from a country's shore, but they're not going to do anything stupid.
That and they're not really intimidating. Iran and Korea probably get together annually to figure out ways to try and annoy us. Now it's just a question of who is going to fuck up first and cause some retaliation.
They're putting them there as a deterrence? More of an annoyance if you ask me.
iran's navy couldn't deter shit. a few disgruntled kittens could roll them over.
Good
Don't some people in Europe do that? I heard about it once.
In rochdale they set fire to a mill, then stole the fire engine when it turned up. As for the Navy, it's legal and no threat but I bet it gets spun into "IRAN PREPARING TO INVADE" by the crazies.
I live pretty close to the coast, maybe I should go meet them. I'm gonna bring some bacon, Iranians love bacon.
"Powerful Presence" In the middle east, perhaps. Near the United States coast? Not so much. This makes me laugh more than anything, It's like a small kid standing up to a bully just before having a few teeth broken. Props to them, but it's not going to accomplish anything but give the Airforce and Navy guys on the atlantic coast something to do for once. Navy is probably welcoming this, especially sub commanders, they know they're going to have some fun, actually getting to monitor shit, stalking ships, and all that jazz You know what we should do? Pop on our Trollface masks, head out in our boats, and drop styrofoam coolers all over the place, and just blast the radio with stupid shit. They have to listen to the radio so why not
aren't they used to suicide missions?
Yeah not like this one. If they attacked the US with their actual military, their entire country would be over. We're talking strategic bombers leveling cities with conventional munitions over. And that would be our OPENING move. It would be national suicide.

More likely you'd see something similar to 1991 with precisely crippling their capabilities, in conjunction with a regional land-rush by every Tom Dick and Harry to claim Iranian territory
Military dick lenght contesting GO!
I really doubt that would be the case. More likely you'd see something similar to 1991 with precisely crippling their capabilities, in conjunction with a regional land-rush by every Tom Dick and Harry to claim Iranian territory
A metered response is not really in the cards when it comes to attacks directly against the US. Some idiots stole some planes and flew them into our buildings. They weren't connected to any particular nation. ONE conflict wasn't enough of a response to that. We had to start TWO. WWII was the last time we saw a legitimate attack on US soil. We sank the majority of their navy and then nuked them twice for it. They still can't have a proper military. We are an angry population with an extremely oversized military and a growing hatred of the middle east and Iran in particular. A direct attack on the US would be like blowing up the hoover dam. Bad, BAD, things would happen. I think Iran has the potential to be a good ally in a number of years provided their government becomes more sane, but all of that is a moot point if a direct attack happens because massive scale conflict becomes unavoidable at that point.
so what they say about sailors is true
Couldn't resist posting this
Sensationalist media is gonna have a field day when this happens.
Are people reading? Tbe US is doing the same thing.
US actually has a reason for it though, their at war with the neighboring nations. Is IRAN at war with america or canada? Their just doing it out of spite for america. All those middle eastern countries hate america, regardless of reason of validity of such. I just find it kind of childish that they play copy cat with the US.
we can't have a BBQ, they cant eat pork.
I'm from Iran and I fucking love pork. Bring me the bacon!
Iranian missile crisis.
