Remember when they released this and we thought it was the best shit ever?
....no? I thought the controller was really awkward even back then, I just really liked the games and I was a kid so I gave way less shits :v:
I actually really like the concept of the N64 controller. It was designed around what I would call "modes". That is, 2D and 3D modes. The d-pad area just got under utilized because very few 2D games came out for the N64, added onto the fact that the analog stick wears away over time. With modern controllers, you have to reach awkwardly over to the d-pad to play 2D games, which was especially bad on the Gamecube controller. I do have pretty small hands though.
Yeah I didn't have the biggest n64 library but I can't remember any games that needed both the d-pad AND the stick/z-trigger. You just hold it by the center prong if you're gonna use what's there.
gamecube controller wasn't as awkward as the n64 though
the gamecube controller wasn't even a little awkward and it remains one of my favorites then again, I only ever played Smash
the gamecube controller wasn't even a little awkward and it remains one of my favorites then again, I only ever played Smash
people still use it too, and there's a damn good reason even the snes controller is amazing. N64 though, I just don't get it. I bought a snes controller (third party, iBuffalo but reviewers say it's not better or worse from the original, it's identical) and it's the best thing I've held in my hands.
Everything that was making it so unique is just being dropped by every new update.
We don't need unique, we need functional.
I appreciated the 4 buttons on both sides and thought it allowed more flexibility for fighting games. Valve has a hush hush policy on this development so even though I know someone working on the controller, he can't comment whatsoever on decisions. What I can tell people is that abrash hiring off valve people to work for oculus did effect all projects' development because most of all of them worked with each other across the said projects.
Xbone's controller is the best controller currently available, though PS4 comes in a close second just for being so universal (using bluetooth.) It's just such a solid, clean design that doesn't feel clunky.
[t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a5/GameCube_controller.png[/t]
This makes me wish it was both feasible and practical to use a GameCube controller on modern-day games. Still my all-time favorite controller design. Xbox 360 controller is right behind it due to the similarities.
Picture in the OP is old, this is actually thier most recent controller concept:
north korea recently leaked the newest design today
The ps4's is my favorite since I use it for my pc, and the touchpad gives it good utility
How can you use the touchscreen for your PC? I'd really like to get on that.
How can you use the touchscreen for your PC? I'd really like to get on that.
Its not a screen, just a pad. DS4Tool can allow you to use it as a multitouch trackpad for mouse movement.
How can you use the touchscreen for your PC? I'd really like to get on that.
With ds4tool, it gives it customizable functionality for the pc
How can you use the touchscreen for your PC? Thing fit perfectly in my hands, no awkward motions required to hit all the buttons, and the VMUs were an interesting (if superfluous) touch.
can you connect the ps4 pad via usb or do you have you get a bluetooth dongle?
Both work.

Maybe I should do that.....
north korea recently leaked the newest design today
Welp, Russia put the Xbone and PS4 controllers to shame. I grew up on playstation controllers so I can't say much. I always loved the PS controllers, even if they could easily fall apart like the PS3 ones did.
Best of both worlds? Eh? Eh?
How does this even work. I'm already very confused and I'm not even holding them in my hands yet. Was that designed and developed for use with NORAD?

It just looks to be a more complex and expensive 360 controller, just for the gimmick of a mouse. What's the point of spending $40 more on this when I'm already used to the latter?
