dunno why the Legend of Korra game is in there if that game is American-developed and only anime-inspired, but whatever
technicality I guess
oops
Is anime like spaghetti western in that only Japanese people can make anime?
But I bought Shogun Total War 2 in the Winter Sale already!
which one has the most hentai
So... Can anyone recommend the games to buy and the games to avoid in this sale?
I know next to nothing about any of these games, besides Avatar.

RPG: trails in the sky, Ys
Fighting: KOF XIII, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend
Visual Novel: Planetarian
Etc: Strider, Recettear
i personally wouldn't buy it for more than $1, but fairy bloom freesia is a decent beat-em-up game.
agarest is basically ogre tactics+fire emblem, with a visual novel on the side. can't really recommend it unless you really like both of those things.
everything else is either "meh" or "bad" imo. at the very least you would have to not ask "what should i buy" in order to want to buy them
like in order to want to buy the bullet hell games you need to already be a fan of or have played bullet hell games to understand why you would want to buy them
you can get the naruto fighting games if you're too casul for the fighting games above and want to play with friends or something tho

The Ys games are extremely good. They play somewhat similar to 2d Zelda games but are far more action oriented. Ys I&II are more like 2d Zeldas and Origins and Felghana are 3d but with a similar perspective to the other two. They have really good soundtracks and a fairly interesting story. Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky isn't bad either. It's an rpg but I haven't played enough to tell you anything about how it is farther on. It's by the same people as the Ys series though and I've heard quite a few people claim it's even better than Ys so it can't get too bad further on, if it gets worse at all. I dunno about what games to avoid though.
Is Recettear really good? This is the third time it goes on sale, and the third time I'm unable to buy it. I don't know if I should be salty or not.

A reminder that if you buy blazblue on steam you show that pc gamers want old versions of games that aren't competitive anymore.
I suggest considering to buy Fortune Summoners. While a difficult game it's rather fun to play once you get the hang of it.
So... Can anyone recommend the games to buy and the games to avoid in this sale?
I know next to nothing about any of these games, besides Avatar.
Strider is a revamp of a series that goes back to the arcade/NES era, and a pretty damn good one at that. 2d action-platformer based around ninja agility.
Bunny Must Die is a Metroid or Catlevania game if you replaced the main character with a bunny anime lady. Alright entry into the genre, and fairly hard as well.
Recettear is a shopkeeper/economy simulator. Play the market right to pay off the colossal, inconceivable debt your missing father racked up before magical fairy repo men take your house and throw you out on your ass. surprisingly humorous, and IIRC there's a free demo for this one.
Blazblue is a fighting game by the Guilty Gear guys. Not quite as good as GG, in my opinion, but may be worth a try if you liked the previous series.
Long Live the Queen is essentially a visual novel with a side of strategy. No real hands-on gameplay, but still requires a good deal of forethought and attention to detail to make progress in. Also, you're going to die horribly.
Hatoful Boyfriend is a dating sim with pigeons. Essentially the Goat Simulator of that genre.
Wouldn't recommend 100% Orange Juice; It's Mario Party with no Mario and significantly less Party.
Wouldn't recommend Eryi's Action; It's I Want To Be The Guy with loose controls and no amusing references.

did they censor his nipple
Planetarian is a legit good visual novel with an emotional story.
Keep in mind that it's pretty short though (4-5 hours TOPS, probably less) and there are no choices at all to be made.
Oh no now it's just a matter of time gaben puts up a brony sale of some short

I have to agree. It's surprisingly good.
Also: fuck merkids
those cheating fish bastards need to die
If the average "Water Temple" level makes you want to bang your head against a table, the one in this game makes you want to slit your wrists.
i bought recettear
Valkyria Chronicles the only anime game I care about on Steam is not a sale shit * sigh +

That's actually not the case. It seems that way on the surface, but it gets better than it has any right to be and plays to a lot of the tropes of the genre in a fun tongue in cheek way.
It's unironically good.

I remember watching a stream of it a while ago, I was incredibly drunk and all I can remember is everyone involved screaming about getting swole, and something about pudding.
Is Legend of Heroes worth it for the 10 bong-bux
I remember watching a stream of it a while ago, I was incredibly drunk and all I can remember is everyone involved screaming about getting swole, and something about pudding.
Yeah, there's one character that's kind of the joke option. But he's the only one like that. The other storylines can get surprisingly heavy and downright dark.
I know how dumb it sounds to be saying that about a pigeon dating simulator, but you'll have to take my word on it.
which one has the most hentai
Sakura Spirit
Nekopara not on sale
10% is okay, but this is blasphemy.

I'm not a big fan of anime, but me lassy bought me Receatter at some point. Ended up giving it a spin despite it being cutesy shite and by God, that game is fucking ruthless.
I'd recommend it if you want to live the horrid life of a small businessman.
Sakura Spirit
Uhh there is no explicit hentai in that game otherwise it wouldn't even be on Steam. It'd be against Valves policy if the Nekopara devs are to be believed because in their case people have asked and that's what they said. Browsing the games Steam forum seems to confirm this as well.
So unless you are talking about the odd bare boob with obscured nipple or naked character with conveniently placed hair and/or steam blocking their naughty bits then none of the games has any hentai in them.

It's hilarious how hard the game is because based on its cutesy exterior you wouldn't normally expect it to be so fucking hard.
