Gabe Newell: "Piracy is basically a non-issue for our company."

I've actually never encountered much or any problems with valve or steam in all my time using it. Steam's amazing deals, promotions and everything else makes me not use other sort of shit like Origin and D2D (even though I play BF3 I only got origin for that reason)
Valve has to be the greatest company ever, I can say I am a fanboy and proud of it because they care for us and every game has that valve touch you always notice, that's why I love everything.
And even though many people want valve to re-write the source engine, to my belief when I play portal 2 on max settings the lighting looks super fucking realistic than other games like crysis, I'm not bullshitting either, it looks real.
That is flaming. Just because other people didn't get banned doesn't mean it's okay.
I approve of that ban. I went beyond the line and risked tipping everything in a negative direction. Ask me, everyone doing that should get bans. Then we'd have better post quality in general.
No, you can start up your computer without internet and steam will let you just play offline
At least for me it does
Then do tell, since officially Steam states that you have to start Steam first online before you can use Offline mode.
You simply have to have previously logged in - all your credentials are stored in (I believe) the .blob file. If your credentials are present, you're fully able to play in offline mode.
Which means you cannot start up a computer that's not connected to their servers and be able to play offline, you have to log in and make an initial connection like I said.

You have to log in to download the game anyway :v:
My friend's a pirate. He got cracked steam so he can get pretty much every game free.

Uhm no, he's lying to you. You cannot download games from the official steam servers using a cracked client. There was a time (< 2007 ish) that you could download gmod + all valve games trough a cracked client, but that has been patched a long long time ago.
I wouldn't compare Notch to Kotick though. Notch is inexperienced and lazy and he doesn't take his company seriously enough, but he seems like a nice guy. Kotick isn't inexperienced or lazy, just bad.

Well, once on that computer but not every time you start it up.

That's simple: You read it wrong.
The "start it online" thing means "this computer has to have logged in online at least once". So as long as you check "Save Password" at the login, it will automatically offer up offline mode if you have Internet problems.

No, that is simply not true.
Please explain when I can play Gmod on my laptop when I'm stuck in traffic.
Because for some it does work, for most it doesn't. Also do you have your laptop powered off and power it on without a network connection before you start playing? Because if you start from hibernation or snooze it will of course work because you're still logged in.
The first, I'm one of those people that never uses hibernation or snooze.
If I restart steam right now, and cut my connection, offline mode will work. If I restart my computer after cutting the connection, it has never ever worked.
But I'm gonna go to bed now.
