I must be the only one who didn't like the Mafia games... And i played both starting from the first back on ps2.
Hope it breaks the record again (possible spoilers)
Achievement Unlocked: "Tsar F-Bomba"
Both games are fantastic I just hope this time we'll get some more stuff to do in the world
Mafia 1 was my fucking childhood. I enjoyed Mafia 2 but the cut content would have made the game more replayable, and he DLCs were lousy (no cutscenes). Hopefullý they have learned.
Mafia II generally was a pretty solid game but didn't hold up to the first one.
Mafia 2's simulation driving was excellent. I still load it up to cruise sometimes, just wish Empire Bay wasn't so small. :(
Mafia II generally was a pretty solid game but didn't hold up to the first one.
It was also fucking eye porn, especially the spring/summer part after[sp]Vito gets out of jail.[/sp]
Vito Scaletta from Mafia 2 is returning too. https://twitter.com/rickyp66/status/552184551733481472 [editline]29th June 2015[/editline] I hope it's more Mafia 1 than Mafia 2 because Mafia 1 is one of the greatest stories ever told in gaming ever.
I still remembered the first time when I went though mafia 2 I was chased by police for speeding and was amazed that drawing a weapon attracts cops too I didn't finish the first one because I lost the game somewhere, but being a taxi driver was really fun too :v: I really like these mafia games, hope the third one is gonna be good too
I really hope they keep the driving simulation and all the detailed stuff about the cars. Mafia one did it the best; the handling was so fucking good. 1930s cars were proper slow gripless piles of rickety shit. Fucking loved it.
Holy fuck yes I loved mafia 2. Hope the map is bigger this time around.
Hope to have more 100 playboys to collect
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
I wish it was the 30's though. I really preferred the first games setting. The Hayday of the American Mafia and all that jazz.
I wouldn't mind a modern 30s game but I'd much prefer a 60s or 70s setting considering there are next to none (especially open-world) that I can think of, and I think they could really nail it. Mafia 2's sim handling would lend itself very well to the big heavy sedans and muscle cars of the 60s.
Time to play through the Mafia games again. Thanks FP.

I'm currently playing through Mafia 2 for the first time, and it's pretty good. The story is great, and the voice acting is mostly top notch. It also looks incredible (apart from textures) for a multiplatform game from 2010. However, in terms of mechanics and gameplay it's pretty shallow. Gunplay is ok, but the weapon variety is fairly minimal. The open world feels incredibly empty; it's mostly used as a backdrop for the shallow driving missions. As proch said, they apparently cut a ton of features and content from the game, which is a shame. The game could have been a modern classic, but instead it was merely good. I hope they get the time and the resources to make Mafia III an even better game.

I remember just laughing out loud when I first got into a car in that one parking garage in the Mafia I demo. Oh man.
I wonder if it's gonna be set in the 70s or 80s this time

This game could have been SO SO GOOD
Never played Mafia 1, but Mafia II had so much TECHNOLOGY. Like that mission where [sp]you are covered in shit, and if you don't change, an alternating cutscene showing a character reacting to your smell is shown[/sp]

The game is still criminally underrated, in my opinion.
Let's have it take place in 60's Philly pls
Ahhh yes please. I could never get into the first one, but I loved Mafia II.
Hopefully they will look at the success of GTA 5 and try to emulate it when it comes to the open world. Nothing annoys me more than the fact that they said Mafia 2 was very open, but yet felt rather limited compared to GTA. Hopefully there is more stuff to do this time outside of missions.
I actually enjoyed playing more as Joe than Vito. The delizia grandeamerica was a fast motherfucker that I could never get to top speed without traffic disabled. I wish there was a way to paste the joe's adventures map into the main game.
I loved weaving through traffic in the hot rods. Very satisfying to maintain 100+ mph without a scratch. The game would seriously benefit from more in depth vehicle customization, though. An online mode similar to GTA Online would be awesome in a 60s/70s setting.
I'm really hoping its 60's/70's.
It was also fucking eye porn, especially the spring/summer part after[sp]Vito gets out of jail.[/sp]
I preferred the winter section, myself. Gave off a very Norman Rockwell feel.
They pulled off winter really well, with NPCs shoveling snow off their cars and occasionally slipping on the pavement. :v: The slippery roads were fun to drive on, too.
