Mafia III casting for multiple main characters. Rumor is, Rockstar is advising them on open world elements too.
Pretty cool, Mafia 2's greatest weakness was its open world. But then again, I'd say (in solo) just freeroaming is one of GTAV's weaker points too. Not saying GTAV was bad, just that it shines in story and heists over just aimless roaming.
The winter portion of Mafia 2 definitely looked better.
As much as I love the 30's, the 70's are an interesting time and not often done in videogames. The 70's are kind of a transition period between the still slightly chaotic and often grotesque world into what it is today.
The mafia series brought a few neat twists to the open world crime sandbox genre but Mafia II was a case of 'could have been great' to me. It's a shame that most of the content in terms of details, additional features and polishing went unfinished. I found myself having the most fun freeroaming and imagining how cool the freeroaming could have been. The telephone booths that went unused, the detailed interiors, the shops and bars, consumable foods, all the stuff that wasn't properly implemented looked like it would have been a lot of fun.
What would fit the Mafia series more was the actual sense that you could manage and run a Mafia family.

Though it did not age really well.
Never played Mafia 1, but Mafia II had so much TECHNOLOGY. Like that mission where [sp]you are covered in shit, and if you don't change, an alternating cutscene showing a character reacting to your smell is shown[/sp]
The game had many little details and alternate cutscenes, like for example [sp]in the chapter where you have to rescue Leo, You can hide in the closet with him resulting Henry finding you and joking about it. If you hide in the shower he will shoot you and Leo.[/sp]

they really need to completely rethink the way they structure missions. if it's anything like the second game I won't even be able to tolerate it for more than a couple hours.
I think the first Mafia has one of the best stories in video games. And I'm not saying that just because it was made by Czechs. That being said it's probably the best game with Czech dubbing. They actually somehow got pretty famous Czech actors for it. Mafia 2 was just good. I felt it was less special story-wise but the mechanics were way more refined than the first. Let's see what Mafia 3 brings.
Mafia 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games, I'm fucking pumped.
The Godfather (original game) actually did it kinda good with the whole protecting stores and climbing the family ladder and so on. Though it did not age really well.
imo Mafia 3 should have a system like that
Bring over Shadow of Mordor's nemesis system pls pls pls pls pls
Do we have anything to base "imminent" on other than domain names?
im sure wb would love that
Rename it, it's too perfect not to be in the game.
Bring over Shadow of Mordor's nemesis system pls pls pls pls pls
I'm ready for randomly generated Tonys.
When [sp]Henry get's sliced up[/sp] I always thought that was nasty
When [sp]Henry get's sliced up[/sp] I always thought was nasty
That was a fucked up scene. This made up for it though.
im sure wb would love that
Wb can go fuck themselves with a rusty fish hook after Batman Arkham Knight.
Mafia I was genuinely one of the best games I've ever played. It was so well written for a game of that era. Actually, it was so well written in any context. The soundtrack, the dialogue, the characters, the relentless attention to detail all made it feel really special. And yet it was still fun as hell to play. A masterpiece. The '60s/'70s idea for Mafia III seems to be a pretty popular one - here's hoping the developers liked the idea too. I guess we'll find out soon.
Mafia II is pretty good but heavily flawed: annoying police system, tediously long drives with no fast travel, incredibly linear and a b-movie worth story with totally cliche' characters, barren city with little to do in it. The driving system was good, and the shootouts were fun. Whoever says it's a masterpiece is bonkers in my book.
I hope Mafia won't be treated like the underdog by 2k again they had to cut shitloads of content for Mafia II
Just to emphasize a bit more on what proch said, he wasn't joking when he said shitload of cut content. The cops checking your ID made it in, but it only happened if you bumped into a cop often enough to piss him off.

Sure they were a pain to run away from but I think it was made up for the fact that for minor offenses like crashes, you could just pay a fine and be done with it
I remember being really surprised the first time the cops came after me for speeding.

I thought it was randomized, because I completely totaled this one cop's car and got off with just a fine, but slightly tapped another cops car and he started shooting :v:
