Reading this thread it seems that some of you think they went full tribal and swore off modern life. If you read the article (I know this is a lot to ask Facepunch) it says they've already been living there for nearly a year, with no issue. Both of the parents seemed to already be tinkering with volunteer work, and always wanted to do it for all their lives. They couldn't do so because of the family, but with developments in their children decided that bringing the entire family over during the duration of their tour would be an interesting life-experience. They rented out their house and left the country for Kampala, Uganda- this is the most advanced and "western" city in Uganda. It's also worth nothing that the mother of the family had lived four years in Zambia. The parents are both working with a volunteer group to help out with healthcare and social services. The children are all going to an international school. The children sometime tag along on their volunteer work, and they've met orphans and children infected with HIV, and obviously they don't have the benefit of having the their worries focused on material things. And the family is returning following the end of their rotation as volunteers, as the article says-
In October, the family will return to their comfortable lives in St Albans.
And I'd say that year and a quarter helped put some things in perspective for the children.
If they go to South Africa, or Morocco they'd be alright. If they go to Niger, or Somalia they're fucked. Finally decided to read it (Ugh I hate Dailymail.) Uganda? Hah they're screwed.
Nigeria is not that bad, I've been there. It's exactly like America.
South africa doesnt even count, it was colonised by europeans. I'm talking about sub-saharan africa full of natives, which is pretty much EVERY WHERE ELSE, smartass.
wrung
I sure do hope they like poverty and starvation.
Except Ethiopia. :colbert: 3000 years of independence and running.
That's because no one wants it.
Italy begs to differ.
Looks like a family of goofy fucks. What does africa have to do with anything?
Looks like Spain showed up last and got crappy West Sahara.
It's like getting China at the beginning of Risk.
