NATO should have just sent a few shipping containers full of either French RCIR's or German "Einmannpackung's". There was an article few months back describing eachother's field rations and which were the best
This wasn't a NATO shipment, this was a shipment specifically from one country to another. NATO still hasn't decided what they're going to do, at least not that I've seen.
Yeah veggie omelette are pretty bad.
Please don't remind me of the Lung.
That made Afghanistan much worse then it really was.
i have to say, the names people have for MREs never fail to make me lose my shit
too bad it's not good at making people lose theirs
The first few times you eat an MRE you think they're the best. Then after eating them for 5 months every day one tends to think otherwise
Better than nothing guys. Too bad it wasn't some McDonalds because I'm sure some chicken mcnuggets would raise morale.
Should've dropped mcnuggets on the Russians - the Ukrainians would've ripped them to pieces to get summa dat
Aren't the US MRE's known for being shit though?
The US has likely put more R&D in to MRE's than most nations have put into armored vehicle development. They are pretty good. I keep a few for emergencies.
I've had basic British army rations at army cadets. But I've never had MRE's, are they basically the same? Boil in the bag all-day breakfasts and tuna light mayonaisse type things?
I remember getting a MRE that had a lemon pound cake in it.
Shit was delicious.
A bit off-topic, but I got myself a marinara and meatballs MRE a month back. Is that one of the good ones?
MREs are the shit.
Unless you get a shitty one.
I love me some beef stew, and the macaroni is that bad either.
The veggie omlette is probably an upgrade over the Soviet era canned shit they were eating before.

No, veggie omelette is literally hell-sludge.
After some exploration of the caves and chambers of Lucifer’s caverns, they found that a sludge-like substance was growing on the rocks and rotting corpses within. Through research they discovered that this substance embodied all of the evil that hell represents into a convenient and (sort of) edible form. Armed with this knowledge, the government quickly turned the demonic sludge into a packaged MRE menu item to feed to the troops–knowing that feeding this pure evil would empower the US Marines and soldiers with super demon-powers; and thus, the Cheese and Vegetable Omelet was born!
Unfortunately, what Uncle Sam didn’t plan on was the fact that it is far too wretched of an evil for anyone to actually eat, and thus far no one has actually consumed an entire meal to gain the powers granted by Satan. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all right?
i'm kind of tempted to eat one just to see how bad it actually is
It's not actually that bad (unless you have to eat them regularly, oh dear lord).
It's just completely devoid of any flavor at all, and that's a bit gross and odd.

Meatball Marinara is one of the better ones out there. My personal favorites are Asain beef strips, and Southwest beef and beans. They're pretty good meals and come with some candy and good sides.
They're all honestly not that bad, avoid Pork Sausage with Gravy like the plague though. And be sure to use the heater, it makes all the difference.

I dunno, a half a can of pure fat is hard to top.
