U.S. Military Seeking Deployment in as many as 35 African Countries in 2013

Thanks, yeah I remember now.
I know China quite recently started drilling for oil there, but seemed like on reasonable terms 70% profit to Afghanistan + taxes and buildings (check the wiki). Not heard of any lithium mining though, but I guess they'll be able to ramp up expansions much easier in Afghanistan.
According to the Wiki 30% of the country holds $3 trillion(!) worth of untapped mineral deposits.

ever hear of places like Djibouti
and Liberia?
yeah we've been training with them for years
I remember some Vice documentary about Chinas economic involvement in Africa. On second thought it might have been BBC or Al Jazeera, can't remember.
African nations love the US
Of course problem is in many african countries the warlords have more power than the government, and they certainly don't love the US
The situations is honestly very similar to afghanistan. Warlords control pretty much everything, you can't really stop them, people die, etc.

Yep, the US was pleased when they heard that. Not because we're going to get a lick of that (we won't), but because money brings commerce and commerce brings stability and at the end of the day, we're ecstatic just to be able to trade with you without you blowing yourselves up. It's a good situation for everyone.
Dumb biased source
I mistook the source's website "spreadlibertynews" as "spreadliberalnews." :v:
he's using America's resources to stabilize his African homeland!
-Snip-
Nevermind. Don't want to start anything.
We have been in Africa for a while. This operation is just to support the local forces in taking down terrorist groups, not to rearrange the political landscape.
It's not too surprising, geopolitically. China has been investing into African nations for quite a while. To keep up with our friendly rivalry, the US will eventually have to go in as well.
Let's hope with these military bases, some increased commerce between the African states and the US can get started.
I doubt there will be "commerce" will commence with the political troubles africa has had for a while now. That is, unless the USA "stabilizes" it, and when I say that, I mean setting up permanent military bases and a massive invasion of it.
The US Military is quite pragmatic when it comes to threats to national security and they see Global Warming as one of the biggest.
Which is interesting for me to hear since most of the military is conservative, and many conservatives deny the existence of global warming.
Is it really necessary for America to have it's dick in every hole in the world??

The leadership is very, very practical-minded. The grunts may be in the military for god and general jackson, but the leadership and officers are run through vigorous academies with a mind for sciences.
In a way, I kind of like this plan. Africa (for the most part) is a shit hole of a continent. It could be argued that a major US presence would just instigate more conflict. But maybe more attention towards Africa could help it develop into something a bit more stable and modern.
However, I would like to see how the government will fund a major presence in Africa, especially with all the debt and fiscal cliff crap going on right now.
I wonder if China will get pissed off. China is invested in Africa for it's resources. Perhaps a US presence in the region is a some sort of geo political scheme under the veil of training/anti-terrorism.
America world police

you'd see it's a bit more complicated than that if you actually bothered to give a fuck about global economics
Oooh I really want to be deployed to Africa :) good news.
We showed up to stop local warlords from stealing UN food aid. By and large we were successful until we bombed a meeting of warlords. We were still doing fine, but then black hawk down happened, and I'm sure you got it from there.

Which is exactly why all those natural resources in Afghanistan were sold out to mostly chinese firms
because evil imperial USA is just seeking to steal all the natural resources :eyeroll:
It doesn't have to be about natural resources.
I remember some Vice documentary about Chinas economic involvement in Africa. On second thought it might have been BBC or Al Jazeera, can't remember.
Vice do great docs, i watched the one where they hitchhiked across china, that was pretty cool.

If you look at it like that, America must be a pimp...
Most kids know the geography of Africa.

Could you explain your theory in actual terms of geopolitics? Or are you going to cite "spread liberty news" again?

You have anything else to say to me other than bullshit flamey posts? Why do you think we're there oh wise NoDachi?
Junk threads get junk responses.
If you can't be bothered to do your part of creating a credible SH thread, then don't expect me to show any better consideration.
