I agree with Bob
What I find interesting is the whole situation around David Nutt's dismissal from the Government. Have a read of it if you haven't heard it. In a NUTTshell (Geddit?) he said that drugs should be legalised and the Government's current system has no basis in science. Then they sacked him
Gangsters are obviously leaning on the government to keep them illegal so they can continue to profit off them. It's all a big conspiracy man.

[editline]21st December 2010[/editline]
Didn't he say only Cannabis should be legalised?
I think that was the main point of what he said, but if memory serves, he said other drugs wouldn't be too far out of the question or something.
Well the amount of money Labour put into anti drug campaigns to have David Nutt just to go "Its not that bad" kind of defeats anything they were trying to achieve.
Dr. Nutt's findings were based on scientific fact, Labour's campaign was based on opinion
Is there any sign of legalization anytime soon?
Not in our lifetimes. Not while James Brokenshire is Drugs Minister.
Dr. Nutt's findings were based on scientific fact, Labour's campaign was based on opinion
Which is how it should be, without actual facts and evidence to support the claim you are just being ignorant.
This is not in direct relation to the thread, but regardless of what your views on total legalization are, it is absolutely idiotic to have "the people" vote for legalization of medical marijuana or any other drug such as MDMA. Doctors, reseachers, and experts in health should have the only say as to what can be used as a medicine as they are the only ones that are qualified to make decision regarding if the drug has positive potential use. Of course the drug needs to be approved by the FDA, but should only be looked upon as any other drug. The public should have absolutely no say in what doctors can prescribe.
In terms of medical use, sure, but most drugs should at least be legalized to save crime issues.
I'm not disagreeing with that which is why I said my point is a bit separate. I'm a bit mad that there is a public vote to allow medical marijuana. It isn't at all an issue for the public to decide. The legalization for recreational use of drugs may be in the public domain, but medical decisions should be decided by medical personal.
dr. Nutt's findings were based on scientific fact, labour's campaign was based on opinion
qft. We need a technocratic society. Labour were wrong, Nutt was right, and he was kicked out of a job for doing what a scientist does. Run experiments and trials, analyse and interpret data, and present data for the public, peers and authorities to view and scrutinise.
