I want to eat meat now, after reading this at least.
What's with all the vegan hate? [editline]10th February 2011[/editline]
He is vegan. He obviously isn't intelligent. Even a brief glance through known human development will tell you that meat has always comprised a huge portion of the human diet. Which should tell you a great deal about what is generally necessary to maintain your health. You actually physically couldn't even be vegan and healthy until relatively recently. The vitamin supplements necessary to maintain your health couldn't be produced in a vegan fashion.
So? Nobody said you could. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline]
Pretty much this, and all the vegans ive met look like they are going to collapse.
HEH. I'm definitely not. :sigh: [editline]10th February 2011[/editline]
How I see it: I don't eat bunny food. However, I totally accept if you eat bunny food. I eat red meat. However, I totally accept if you don't eat red meat. How those silly vegans see it: I eat bunny food. You must eat it too. Eat it! EAT IT! AND NOTHING ELSE! I don't eat red meat. You can't eat it either because I say so. STOP EATING MEAT! NO MEAT!! BAWW!!
They're not all like that, please don't generalize!
not a fucking religion!
Don't.
ugh i hate vegan extremists
I never understood the point with vegans. "Hurr let's deprive myself of vital sustenance just so I can be edgy because my hamster died when I was 6" It's just like people who cut themselves, attention whoring or maybe some emotional scarring causing it.
Man, this is why I hate vegans guts, most of them want to force everyone to eat what they eat. It's your eating behaviour, not a fucking religion!
And by "most" you mean the loud ones that you notice? How do you know that "most" of them act that way? For all you know everyone you pass in the street is vegan but you have no idea because they're not so in your face about it.

There's this vegan in my home-economics class, she eats every other day and looks like a crackfiend. Malnutrition isn't a good way to compensate for hundreds of animals who are killed and aren't conscious of our existence.

Not all vegan are this way - I'm assuming all the intelligent ones keep to themselves about it as I do. You would hardly even know that I'm vegan unless you offered me something I won't eat, even then I might just turn it down unless you offer it again. I'm very hesitant to tell most people.
Question though; Do you have any real reason to be a vegan? It seems so incredibly pointless.
Why not? There was an incident in my past - like you said some trauma but whatever - and it made me look at eating meat differently. I went vegetarian and then vegan a half a year later. There's really no difference in what I eat, just look at this awesome bean dip [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/Vck[/img_thumb] Oops that's not bean dip that's some vegan indian food - sorry. Here's the bean dip [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/Vcp[/img_thumb]
Question though; Do you have any real reason to be a vegan? It seems so incredibly pointless.
Why do you care how other people chose to eat? People in this thread seem to be bitching about vegans rubbing it in everyone's faces, but isn't questioning vegans and saying it's pointless just as bad?
It's not real cheese, I made it with Nutritional yeast, starch, oil, and some other spices.
And by "most" you mean the loud ones that you notice? How do you know that "most" of them act that way? For all you know everyone you pass in the street is vegan but you have no idea because they're not so in your face about it.
No I probably just assume they use crack or have aids based on their stature. Being vegan is funny. To obtain the proper nutrients, you have to be extremely intelligent in planning out what you are going to eat. The human body is a complex machine with equally complex needs. But the very act of (voluntarily) going vegan is exceptionally stupid. So you have a group of people who make inherently uninformed decisions that have now placed themselves in a situation which requires informed decisions. After hearing what some people at on vegan diets I am thoroughly amazed at the ability of the human body to continue to function under such extreme circumstances. Now note that my problem is largely with vegans. I don't much care for vegetarianism, but you aren't going to have such a ridiculously shitty time trying to maintain some semblance of a balanced diet. You are still eating unhealthy, as meat is substantially easier to digest than plant matter and provides precisely what is necessary for you to continue functioning at a basic level, but that is worth it to some people. Vegans are just stupid. Ever ridden in anything that has brakes? Yeah brake pads in everything from bicycles to trains use gelatin derived from ground up animal bone. In fact a LOT of stuff uses ground up animal bone. Pills, tires, paint, the list just goes on and on. And of course all the medicine you take was tested on animals. Because if it wasn't, then it isn't legally medicine in many developed countries.

I also put barely any effort into my diet and I feel just fine. The human body's a lot more resistant than you think, and there's so much worse you could do than to avoid eating animal products. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] Seriously 50% of my diet is Raman and Peanut Sauce. Best dish ever.

I was just making a point that not all vegans are in-your-face about it. It might be stupid to make a decision to adopt a diet that lacks a lot of what the human body needs, but how is it stupid to not personally use things with animal products in them like breaks like you said, providing you don't object to other people using them? And as Shadaez said, you can't avoid it most of the time but why hate on people who try their best not to? Also in case anybody was wondering, I'm not a vegan.
wow those must have been pretty great burgers if banning them made the news [editline]10th February 2011[/editline]
Vegans are just stupid.
Why are you fine with hurting plant life.
Stupid argument. I shouldn't even reply, but I'm going to. Even if somehow plants were sentient a vegan diet would do the least harm since the animals have to eat plants as well - and a lot more than the meat that they give (1 pound of meat material is roughly 10 pounds of plant material, for cows, I think), then you're eating them.
Because it's illegal to not have a brake in your car.
I know that I meant that as an example of not being able to avoid it. (unless you don't own a car!)

Your body will operate best on high meat intake with minimal sugars. The human body is this amazing machine that is completely capable of self regulating body weight regardless of caloric intake. You can consume 8k calories in steak a day and your body will retain an ideal fat percentage with no trouble provided that you aren't also flooding your system with carbs. Cancer? Feeds almost exclusively on carbs. You can stop even extremely malignant cancers by removing carbohydrates from your diet. Your blood sugar will stabilize and your energy output will increase substantially. Before you say that you feel like that on a vegan diet, I'm gonna stop you. You don't. You can lie to us or yourself all day long, but your body is a machine just like ours and it has exactly the same specifications. It is durable as fuck and can go for a long time at reduced capacity, but unless you balance your diet, it will eventually fail you. Or use public transportation of any kind. Well, except for aircraft, I'm not sure of their braking mechanisms and how they differ from conventional brakes. But they test aircraft engines by throwing dead birds into them, so that is out too.)

I'm pretty sure Gluten + Peanut Sauce is a complete protein anyways, I also use soy sauce for my salt most of the time - not sure if it still contains the proteins though - and drink soy milk a lot. It wouldn't be hard to have whatever % protein diet you want as a vegan, and it would probably cost less if you can cook. Vital wheat gluten is incredibly cheap. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] My energy level is high, too, my girlfriend's convinced I have ADHD. I highly doubt my diet is optimal, though, not that you couldn't have one as a vegan.
Stop slating vegans, not all of them are like this
I've never understood vegetarians and vegans, having to eat pills just to get the extra shit you need, we have front facing eyes and canines, we're fucking predators, besides, bacons yummy.
