The phrase "British television star" is a bit optimistic here If anything, video games would have kept people inside during the riots, not outside. There isnt a generation of people who are incapable of thinking for themselves and being reasonable

There isnt a generation of people who are incapable of thinking for themselves and being reasonable
There were a lot of zealots in the Middle Ages, though. And I agree; if everybody ever played vidya games 24/7, then they wouldn't be strong or smart enough to set up a riot, because they'd all be fat and pasty. Unless you count Chavs that play CoD, of course... but they suck out those games anyway, so if anything, sucking at violent video games makes you riot.
I don't think the parents are really scapegoats, they are an actual major cause.
Good point.
A philosophical doctorate in video game psychology? That reads as "six years of you life are gone" to me.
You know there's something wrong if it takes you six years to get a doctorate. [editline]20th August 2011[/editline]
A PhD in video game psychology? hah
Seems quite real, actually. http://scholar.google.com.au/scholar?q=video+game+psychology&hl=en&btnG=Search&lr=lang_en&as_sdt=1%2C5&as_sdtp=on
Two-dimensional representation of movement through three- dimensional space: The role of video game expertise The anthropological study of games has demonstrated that a culture's games socialize children in accord with the needs and adaptational requirements of a particular society. The research presented here tested whether video games could contribute to the development of spatial representational skills required for humans to “interface” effectively with computer technology, an increasingly important part of the ecology of modern society. We studied university undergraduates in the U.S. to assess the relationship between expertise in a three-dimensional action arcade video game, The Empire Strikes Back, and the skills of dynamic three-dimensional spatial representation, as assessed in a mental paper-folding test. Study 1 established a correlation between video game expertise and skill in spatial representation. The goal of Study 2 was to establish a causal relationship between video game skill and spatial skill through an experimental paradigm. The predicted experimental effect did not occur—that is, short-term video game practice had no effect on mental paperfolding. However, structural equation modeling did provide strong evidence that video game expertise, developed over the long-term, had a beneficial effect on the spatial skill of mental paper folding. In this form, the hypothesis was confirmed.
seems pretty legitimate too.
Supernanny is a Superfanny. If anything happens it relates to violent video games somehow. Guy gets hit by a car in a sudden accident? Violent Video Games. Guy falls off a building in an accident? Violent Video Games. Riots about something break out? It's obviously got fuck all to do with the original reason, it must be violent video games! God, I hate today's people sometimes.
Ugh. Her. We need the gif of her eating da poo poo from the Southpark episode.
It is a riot. You know why people riot? Because they are displeased with their representation in their government body. Yes there is looting. Yes there is property damage. That is what a fucking riot is. A portion of the population, large enough to resist suppression, decide that they are no longer going to follow rules imposed upon them by a government which they no longer have faith in.
I've been playing Violent games since I was 5, and now? Nothing changed besides learnt more stuff in Video games besides school. And there is a way to tell if it is real or not. The gun is heavy and it pushes you back when you pull the trigger, violent games has nothing to do with it.
My psychologist laughed when I told him this. He has a PhD in child psychology and has probably worked with more kids/teenagers than that bitch ever has.
You seeing a psychologist is eerily fitting with your avatar. [editline]19th August 2011[/editline]
Research shows that within 15 minutes of playing one of these games young men become highly aggressive and lack empathy in normal situations.
Yeah, I got pretty pissed off about 15 minutes after I started playing Rogue Warrior. My god, that game sucks!

Srsly, though, that's bullshit right there. If I were advocating lies like this, I'd still call it bullshit. That's how obvious it is.
gamers should claim to be an oppressed minority
We'd probably get away with it, too. But then one wonders: what makes you a gamer?
The only people to ever become aggressive from videogames are thirteen years old little shits who know way too manjy swear words.
Or people who have a few loose screws to begin with.
Playing games? Is this a trick question?
Do we call Soccer Moms with their Wiis gamers now?
300 hours of ArmA Better get to-...Joining the Marines?
Army if it was OA
Do we call Soccer Moms with their Wiis gamers now?
you have to have a steam rating of 3.0 or higher
Yes. We call them casual gamers.
But they don't play it for the games. They play it because it's the only way they can get close to their kids. "Nintendo: doing parenting for you since 1980."
Do we call Soccer Moms with their Wiis gamers now?
Well, 'gamer' has a verb in it (to game), the Wii plays games so yes, they're gamers.

Does it matter why they play them? By the simplest definition of the word, they are.
Does it matter why they play them? By the simplest definition of the word, they are.
Yes, in fact, it does. They aren't gamers. They're gaming. Trust me, if there was another way that they could get to know their kids, they'd take it, the same way that if I go roller-skating when forced into it, that doesn't mean that I read magazines on techniques to go faster.
this riot was obviously inspired by the ending of gta san andreas
My psychology teacher's sister has a PhD in Grass. Apparently.
Can I get a PhD in Dicks? I don't know why, I've just always dreamed of becoming the guy who knows everything about penises. You know, the Dick Master.

more like shittynanny
I'm probably late, but I suppose in medieval times all the violence was caused by everyone playing so many violent video games.
somalians only turn to piracy because of games like Lego Pirates of the Carribean, trust me I have a PhD in "Study of the Effects of Violent Video Games on the Youth of Today" [editline]19th August 2011[/editline] also a doctorate in "making shit up", the nanny in the article and I graduated together
I just played Half Life. Better cause a Resonace Cascade and fuck up humanity. I'm off to Black Mesa!
