I have faith that they'll pull through for the Stampede in 2 weeks. But if they don't I'll be pretty upset about that. The safety of the people comes first and after that, get working on dat stampede, I booked an expensive flight just to be there for it lol.

Stay strong my fellow Albertians and Calgarians. Were tough Canadians, we can survive this.
Yeah, the road to Banff got totally buttfucked.
Even the CN railroad was washed out in Canmore, I'm sure that might cause a lot of problems since the train and highway are used to transport a fuckload of goods. Today I was preparing blankets and pillows at work (at the airport) all afternoon for people who couldn't get to their hotel due to flooding and had to spend the night at the airport. Luckily I live in the NE so it's perfectly safe here, but just seeing downtown completely flooded is so crazy. The flooding is bad enough that it made the front page on the CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera sites.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada says water that comes in through doors and windows — called "overland flooding" — is not covered.
It all gets worse.
The most interesting part is that this happened right before the Calgary Stampede. The forecast says rain for the next 4 days, and then afterwards they have about a week for the ground to dry up, and to pump the water out of the buildings and clean everything up, and set up the event before all the tourists arrive on the 5th for the Stampede. I have no idea how they are going to manage that since it usually takes them a week to set up without the buildings full of water. Although it could be worse.. Like if it happened during the Stampede week. [editline].[/editline] Wow, those insurance companies are assholes. Hopefully the province helps people out in restoring their homes
My brother had to evacuate his place. Judging by how the zoo looks, it seems that only his basement's going to be flooded. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse than it is now
Up in Edmonton here, getting next to no rain, I've been hearing non-stop about this though. Kind of out of the blue which is why its so bad, there was even a fire ban going on for a while and then bam, flood time.
The tigers from the zoo were evacuated and placed in the holding cells of a court house
