The way I see it, Windows and Linux are like an automatic and a manual. Windows is for people who want something that's less efficient, but simpler and easier to use, while Linux is for people who like to spend most of their time yanking their stick.

That's why I won't touch Linux for a while, that and Steam wouldn't work without having a semi-good emulator program running. The difference is that an emulator attempts to run a copy of a whole machine in a program and a compatibility layer just intercepts data intended for use under one operating system and changes it for use under another operating system. Also, most people say the same as you in regard to Linux. There are some good games that work under Linux, but most are Windows only, so they just stick to Windows. But that's not the point. The point is that the Russian government is moving to as much free software as possible, which is good news.
