Not again... Another Porsche crash, another one of my favourite actors gone. :(
I was told that something in the steering wheel was just fixed at the shop, but it messed up and that's why they couldn't turn away from the tree. Because it was stuck. I don't know if this is true, I'll look for a source later.
It's bad that people still have to crowd him when he's trying to mourn..
As bad as it seems, most of them have a right to be there too. They're either friends / fans. The camera guys can just fuck off though.
You have no idea how delicate cars actually are.
The external areas of cars; hood, bumpers, trunk are all fragile and designed to get smashed to bits to absorb energy. The passenger cell is designed to stay rigid and protect the occupants. This car was made of heavy duty carbon fiber, very light, very strong. Based on what little I can tell, I'd bet the car went sideways into the lamppost, which sheared it behind the seats, and then hit the tree and burst into flames, possibly travelling backwards, since it went through the top of the windshield frame, but not the hood. (more than half of the "normal" people without a big ass camera are still taking pictures/videos with their phones)
Wait, where was it confirmed the driver was speeding? I thought the car model has a fuckload of problems.
"The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office stated that speed was a factor in the crash.[29]" source: http://edition.cnn.com/2013/11/30/showbiz/actor-paul-walker-dies (from Wikipedia) For those who don't know, the driver was a professional racer...
You have no idea how delicate cars actually are.
This, and the fact that kinetic energy is proportional to velocity squared. So 60 MPH will fuck you up more than twice as much as 40 MPH, and 80 MPH will fuck you up four times as much. You definitely don't need 200 MPH to cause that wreck. There is no way he'd crash into a tree by his own fault (maybe another car doing something unexpected, but not a tree). dont speed kids

(I don't know how fast they were going, jumping out of any car is dangerous, but slamming into a tree at a high speed is obviously lethal) Whoever worked on the steering fluids might be getting a lot of hate if they are named.
If anyone was interested here is the road that it happened on. That distance is roughly 300ft, from the end of the turn and the final stop.
I don't have a source, but have been hearing on the radio that it's likely there was mechanical failure mixed in with a little speeding that caused them to hit the tree. Also really, really bizarre that there were rumors of his death a mere day before he actually dies. How does that happen?

It really shows how a steering wheel failure could've caused the crash [editline]2nd December 2013[/editline]
Also really, really bizarre that there were rumors of his death a mere day before he actually dies. How does that happen?
Carl Jung would say that the collective unconscious was prescient of his death. A similar phenomenon is the scientific discoveries that happened days or weeks apart, in very distant countries before they had global communication. (If the death was caused by a mechanical failure, not just a spur-of-the-moment accident, then the collective unconscious could've known that the car was faulty before Walker was actually in it.)

No one cares about the poor guy who was driving his car, but because Paul was a celeb it gets more attention. This is really sad but just like any celeb death we won't stop hearing about it for some time.
R.I.P both Roger Rodas and Paul Walker. gotta hate how unpredictable cars can be even with a professional driver at the wheel.
Cars are unpredictable when they're faulty or the road's bumpy. Otherwise, for a pro racer, they're pretty damn predictable. [editline]3rd December 2013[/editline]
If anyone was interested here is the road that it happened on.
That's quite far and that corner isn't tight at all... to have that crash, either they WERE doing 200 mph and the back end was lost, which I find fishy considering the driver was a professional racing driver, and if there's someone who knows throttle discipline and control it's them, or they had to dodge a traffic car, or there really was a steering failure. [editline]3rd December 2013[/editline]
You have no idea how delicate cars actually are.
It varies. No wonder I can't find any goddamned parts for my car!
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigation has ruled out the possibility that Rodas and Walker were racing another car in the street after receiving a tip over the weekend about a second vehicle. “That lead has been exhausted and determined that was not to be credible,” Sergeant Rich Pena said. Walker and Rodas were both drivers for the Always Evolving racing team. Neither the coroner’s office nor the sheriff’s department would confirm if Rodas was the driver of the car. Rodas also served as a financial adviser to Walker, the actor’s spokeswoman, Ame Van Iden, said. Sheriff Deputy Aura Sierra said the investigation into the crash, in which the department earlier said that speed played a role, should take two more days.
http://www.torontosun.com/2013/12/02/fast--furious-star-paul-walker-in-street-race-before-death

Impact of the crash https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=181242288748437 Safe for work, cant really see anything
