Because all they do is "Haha look at me isn't it bizarre that a man is dressing up like a woman?" and then they try to compare themselves to actual transgendered people. Drag Queens are fucking pathetic
I think that is kind of stretching it, most people who know what a drag queen is generally know it's just tongue and cheek. Personally I never associated the two or thought one was putting down or making fun of the other
Transperson here. I find drag queens to be absolutely awful. Like someone stated above, drag queens are basically the worst. When the media wants to paint trans people in a bad light, they use drag queens to turn us into a mockery. Also, I've met several people that think trans people look like drag queens and its literally the worst. :suicide:

I still don't see the connection between people dressing up in flashy outfits and people that have changed their social identity. It's not like they're saying, "ahaha look at me i'm a funny clown and i break the gender roles". It's something they're genuinely passionate about, and don't care about what others think.
Heh. It's kind of funny that LGBT rights and acceptance is fought against because it's "offensive" to certain groups, and now that it's becoming more common, they are doing the exact same thing to a different group. This is almost as stupid as gays and lesbians mocking bisexuals for "not being real gays" and "just doing it for the attention".
this sounds exactly like the kind of generalization and mockery that bigots apply towards LGBT
except the heat that bigots spout actually lead to LGBT deaths and youths getting kicked out of their homes

Another trans person here, just because Drag queens are used to make a mockery of trans people they themself can't be blamed for it, dont get me wrong I hate being group into that but I dont think they should be banned from being able to express themselves in whatever way the feel. Again its not their fault people use drag to convey trans people.
So farmers aren't real either because they did it in the beginning out of neccesity? The origins don't matter, it is an old principle and found in many cultures. Being a drag queen is as much of a selfexpression as looking flamboyant or butch. Since you seem to hate drag queens so much, I doubt you know a lot about them. The world doesn't revolve around the easily offended. You should consider that not everyone is out to give you a bad image. My girlfriend happens to be a transgender as well, and she finds this as ridiculous as me (Yeah, I drew the token black card). You are huffing and puffing at an act that is supposed to entertain. Do you go to music concerts and complain afterwards because the lightshow was way too ''LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME''? Funny, last I remember some feminists were screaming about anything lately.
That's a terrible analogy. We're talking about something that happened because of cultural restrictions and something that's a subculture today. Farmers have no comparision either. And no it's not. Drag queens don't go wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, and go "Yeah, a drag queen is who I am, and who I want the world to see me as. It's my personality and identity." That is, however, what flamboyant gays and butch lesbians do. And no, I don't hate them. Please don't put words in my mouth. And that's fine for her. Just as long as she hates them for legitimate, justifiable reasons (such as they can give a twisted portrayal of trendgenderism) instead of obscene ones (they're actively mocking transgendered people). I can pull the same card, too. I've a friend who was a drag king. And now he's a transman, but still enjoys the drag concept. And I'm not "huffing and puffing" anything, just explaining the comparison to blackface. And no, I wouldn't complain, because that's the point, and is, again, a poor analogy.

How does that make any sort of sense? It isn't the responsibility of people doing what they find joy in to keep other people from making generalizations.
-snip, muh automerge-
except the heat that bigots spout actually lead to LGBT deaths and youths getting kicked out of their homes
Bigotry is bad because bigotry is bad. There is no such thing as acceptable bigotry.
Drag Queens are the fucking worst, they make a mockery of trans people and put the entirety of the LGBT community in a bad light. They act like stereotypical "fat black women" and just do it for fun and treat it like it's a fucking sideshow activity, and then who does the media look to first? These cunts. Drag shows are fucking awful
[t]http://41.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m19lsweMGz1rr6tnmo1_500.jpg[/t] Don't knock them that badly now
And no it's not. Drag queens don't go wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, and go "Yeah, a drag queen is who I am, and who I want the world to see me as.
Holy shit :v: How could you possibly say that being a drag queen is not a part of their identity? Who the fuck are you to decide that?
wait so basically because of your opinion you're saying that some other class of people is somehow less than yours ....... ..... let that sink in for a second
Drag queens are a voluntary performance, not a class of people.
Someone who personally knows drag queens.
Nice, go tell your friends that you've decided being a drag queen isn't part of who they are. I'm sure they would really appreciate that.
Drag queens are a voluntary performance, not a class of people. [editline]21st July 2015[/editline] Someone who personally knows drag queens/kings. It's a performance/stage identity, not who they are.
There's a difference between saying "being a drag queen/king is not a part of my friends' identities" and "being a drag queen/king can't be a part of someone's identity because it isn't for my friends".
Get over yourselves. Just because someone dresses in drag doesn't mean that they're targeting you, your identity or your feelings. Not everything in the world revolves around you/exists to offend you. This is some of the most self-centered garbage I've heard in a minute. It hurts that it's coming from my own community this time. Why exclude one of the most classically-associated groups from the parade? How do you think that makes them feel? For you to tell them that they're a joke at best? These are people that have fought for a long time and endured hell so you can be as accepted as you are today. You have it easy compared to a lot of the things that the older LGBT activists had to suffer through. If we're going to start culling the community, you're next for making the world at large believe that trans/gay/bi people are overly-sensitive spin doctors who can't even get along with their fellow allies.
All of the drag queens I've seen on Twitter have been extremely supportive of the trans community. I don't know where people are getting the idea that it's 'LGBT blackface' as if drag queens are intentionally going out to mock trans people. The whole idea probably started as a way for trans women to feel more comfortable with themselves.

It's a performance/stage identity, not who they are.
so you're telling me that an actor's performance identity has absolutely no effect on who they are? cause if you are, that's a hilariously wrong statement

How about really flamboyant gay people? Are they also "the worst" considering they're used by the media to make fun of gay people in general?
Alright, that's it. Political Correctness has gone full circle. These "trans" people who clearly need therapy shutting down fun parades because they can't handle the banter. I'm gonna have to hide drives full of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert in my crawlspace while hiding from Civil Protection in the coming years, aren't I? Goddamn.
Nice, go tell your friends that you've decided being a drag queen isn't part of who they are. I'm sure they would really appreciate that.
Excuse me? Why are you acting as if I'm acting out some hostile idea without any insight from my friends? I speak with them, I talk about this stuff with them, and hell, I shop this shit with them. Through all of our conversations and experiences is where I make this conclusion, to which they say "yeah, no shit" to.
wow trans people are so dragphobic
so you're telling me that an actor's performance identity has absolutely no effect on who they are? cause if you are, that's a hilariously wrong statement
You're pulling arguments out of absolutes. My point is that drag queens don't live their lives as drag queens. They live their lives as whoever they are. Flamboyant gay men live their lives flamboyantly because that's who they are. Same for butch lesbians.
"hello i am legndnikko, and i am able to speak for every single drag queen in the entire history of the world"
My ideas on the matter are no less valid than everyone else in the thread, just like the people who think that drag queens are an identity aside from a performance, and the people who think the drag queens are mocking transgenderism.
