wow trans people are so dragphobic
the irony is if its not coming insecurity its coming from drag queens not meeting their gender rules, which is pretty fucked up because they don't meet the traditional gender norms either.
You're pulling arguments out of absolutes. My point is that drag queens don't live their lives as drag queens. They live their lives as whoever they are. Flamboyant gay men live their lives flamboyantly because that's who they are. Same for butch lesbians.
And then what? If they want to dress up as women, they should be able to right? Hell, even if they want to make fun of being a woman, people should stop being so damn offended.
Because all they do is "Haha look at me isn't it bizarre that a man is dressing up like a woman?" and then they try to compare themselves to actual transgendered people. Drag Queens are fucking pathetic
This anti-drag queen circlejerk is hilarious, what if someone just likes dressing up as a lady?

There aren't limitations for what makes something a part of your identity. It isn't a gender, it's a completely different thing from being trans or gay, but it can still be a part of their identities. Your identity is something you make for yourself, it isn't anyone's place to tell someone else what is or isn't a part of it.
Maybe they don't "live" their lives as drag queens, but does that change that it's part of who they are?
You are all taking my words way too strictly. My entire point of it not being their identity is that they don't live their lives as is. Of course it's a part of who they are, them having the characteristic of "likes doing drag," but it's not how they go out express themselves in real life. That's my entire point.
This anti-drag queen circlejerk is hilarious, what if someone just likes dressing up as a lady?
Too bad. Apparently cross-dressing in any form or fashion is transphobic and making a mockery of 'muh gender identity'.
What you do is what you are. There aren't limitations for what makes something a part of your identity. I only ask this because that's what I've been arguing otherwise, and you keep going against me, so I want at least a clear vision of what you're saying.
Is there some difference between a crossdresser and a drag queen or am I missing something? The facepunch thread is called the "transgender AND crossdressing" thread
Can someone link me to when and where the Drag Community unequivocally said "We are doing this to intentionally mock and devalue the trans identity"? I'm genuinely curious as to how all the anti-drag people in this thread came to that conclusion.
Is there some difference between a crossdresser and a drag queen or am I missing something? The facepunch thread is called the "transgender AND crossdressing" thread
crossdresser is generally you put on womens clothes for sexual satisfaction (or what have you) drag queen is rupaul's drag race
Is there some difference between a crossdresser and a drag queen or am I missing something? The facepunch thread is called the "transgender AND crossdressing" thread
Cross-dressing is the general act of wearing clothing outside of your gender. Drag queens cross-dress in an exagerrated way for performance.
ie drag queen is a performance, crossdressing is a way to satisfy sexual needs
Alright, that's it. Political Correctness has gone full circle. These "trans" people who clearly need therapy shutting down fun parades because they can't handle the banter. I'm gonna have to hide drives full of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert in my crawlspace while hiding from Civil Protection in the coming years, aren't I? Goddamn.
I'm against the ruling but this is a very bad post either way
Because all they do is "Haha look at me isn't it bizarre that a man is dressing up like a woman?" and then they try to compare themselves to actual transgendered people.
which hilariously enough is exactly what transgender people say "you can't tell someone they're not trans or gay"
I want to emphasize that this isn't "transgender people" complaining, it's people who don't like drag queens complaining. "Trangender people" don't say anything. They aren't a hive mind. Neither are drag queens. People within those groups can say and do things that contradict other people in those groups.
I want to emphasize that this isn't "transgender people" complaining, it's people who don't like drag queens complaining. "Trangender people" don't say anything. Not a representative of trans people in general, but still.
So drag queens are sorta the black face for transexuals?
To me the whole thing seems rather silly since the event* is about non-judgmental celebrations, but is actively saying no to drag because they feel it might damage their image. To me it just seems a bit hypocritical
drag queens are the lgbt equivalent of blackface
Only really boring gay people are allowed at the gay pride parade.
Only really boring gay people are allowed at the gay pride parade.
we're inclusive but not *too* inclusive
Well, a lot of posters in this thread have said "I'm trans, and I'm against this." Take that as you will. Not a representative of trans people in general, but still.
I understand why there is hostility. I empathize with people who have been hurt by the generalizations made by bigots. But I do not think that justifies mockery of a group of people who have done nothing more than do what makes them happy. I think that goes against everything that pride stands for.
this sounds exactly like the kind of generalization and mockery that bigots apply towards LGBT
Strange how the GMF Progression Session often devolves into "fuck _____, _______ is the worst, they should all die in a fire and I really mean that for real", whilst being beyond outraged in another thread with exactly the same cultural context being applied to a different group or context they happen to like without a shred of factual or objective connotation being applied.
ie drag queen is a performance, crossdressing is a way to satisfy sexual needs
Uh??? or cross dressing is a way to dress more comfortably in a way that disregards gender norms? its not inherently sexual
drag queens are the lgbt equivalent of blackface
ninjad by a fucking hour damn
i tweaked my first post but not my second post ok sorry????
ok just making sure !

"This stands for our ability to express ourselves as we have chosen to without fear or mockery or derision, or to be marginalized for doing so, but your choice of expression is terrible and fuck you and fuck any form of context other than what I want".
