I didn't buy World at War or Black Ops
Black ops was the best one since CoD4
Who cares about effort when they have a formula that works and is entertaining, they don't need to totally change the game just for the sake of it. Repetitive is entertaining isn't it. Nahhhh

The formula has just been copy and pasted 4 times with minor changes.
I don't get why you guys are so harsh on the CoD series. You're just a bunch of hipsters about it really. "I don't like it because it's popular."
Hell, you're like /v/ about anything that isn't a JRPG
apparently, i'm dumb because I have my own taste in games. Go click on my steam profile, look at my games.
My taste in games is that CoD was same, boring thing after Modern Warfare 2. I don't like who makes it, I don't like how they go about making their games, I don't like their community, I don't like the style of gameplay, I don't like the game. I've been disliking it since Modern Warfare 2 and that's just how it is. There are many other games I'd rather play.
Sorry that my opinions different, but it's an opinion. Maybe something different will change my opinion, but probably not.
And by the way the word hipster is fucking stupid.
Repetitive is entertaining isn't it. Nahhhh
It doesn't feel repetitive, have you ever played them without a mindset saying "I WILL HATE THIS GAME RAAA"
Stop complaining about their not being a boatload of new gameplay changing features. Call of Duty isn't the only game known for this. Take for example: Assassin's Creed as stated, Gears of War, Pokemon, and Half-Life 2 just to name a few. There's a new pokemon game pretty much every year and they release TWO on the same day without many differences between the two.
The formula has just been copy and pasted 4 times with minor changes.
so? same with assassins creed and you guys seem to love it. Technically same with most FPS game franchises, and to a lesser extent the entire FPS genre
mw2 and bo are as repetitive as BF1942 and BF2 are.
I don't get why you guys are so harsh on the CoD series. You're just a bunch of hipsters about it really. "I don't like it because it's popular."
because the 6-hour long, plot-hole ridden campaigns consists of holding your AI mate's hand as he kicks open doors for you.
because the multiplayer is an unbalanced piece of shit.
because killstreaks only encourage foul play and give "skilled" players a bigger advantage
because the majority of its playerbase consists of 12-years olds and jocks.
because activision is a bunch of greedy cocksuckers (see: 15$ for five maps) and supporting them is morally wrong.
because the difference between each installment is minimal due to there being a new one every single year
It doesn't feel repetitive, have you ever played them without a mindset saying "I WILL HATE THIS GAME RAAA"
I've played all of them except WaW and yes, they're getting really boring now, they need to do something new with the series.
Ugh Killstreaks, pretty much what ruined CoD Multiplayer for me, I want to go back to a time where we didn't have Perks or Killstreaks.
Ugh Killstreaks, pretty much what ruined CoD Multiplayer for me, I want to go back to a time where we didn't have Perks or Killstreaks.
then play the gamemodes in mw2 and bo that has no killstreaks or perks lmao
Ugh Killstreaks, pretty much what ruined CoD Multiplayer for me, I want to go back to a time where we didn't have Perks or Killstreaks.
I thought CoD4 did killstreaks well, they were more just a bonus to help your team win rather than a thing for individual players to whore.
Ugh Killstreaks, pretty much what ruined CoD Multiplayer for me, I want to go back to a time where we didn't have Perks or Killstreaks.
Black Ops included a mode like this, it's likely MW3 will.
so? same with assassins creed and you guys seem to love it. Technically same with most FPS game franchises, and to a lesser extent the entire FPS genre
Assasins Creed 2 was a massive improvement over the first one, plenty of new features were added and the gameplay was improved. Brotherhood added multiplayer, i dunno how much it changed the single player since I didn't buy it because it looked too similar to the second game.
With CoD all they do is add some new guns, tweak the multiplayer a little and shove in a half arsed, short singleplayer campaign.
everyone who say they won't buy it buy it anyway
I won't buy it.
You know why?
Even if I did want it, my computer won't run it.

Its because they advertise it in the most main stream way possible, its not that it is popular, its because the fan base are fucking morons who think CoD is the only game that exists.
Not only that, but its the same thing over and over, the fighting system is just completely unfair unless you devote large amounts of time on the game, and none of the commercials actually have anything to do with the game play itself.
Don't even get me started on that DLC bullshit, I'll pop a vein and die.

Have you ever compared the gameplay and level layout between cod4, mw2, and BO?
There's a reason why the cod4 maps launched as DLC for mw2 play very differently than their cod4 equivelents.

dude COD adds improvements and new features every new game, MW2 had so much more weapons and variety and killstreaks than cod4. Stop pretending they're literally the same just because you don't like them.
I fucking hate how subjective you guys are.

I'm not sure how you can justify having Half-Life 2 in that list. Pokemon and GoW fair enough, but there is a pretty big difference between Half-Life and Half-Life 2.
I've been playing MW1 since its release.
CoD4.
All day.
Erry day.
Except gears of war adds a boat load of new features to each game, as in serious game changing features.

Half-Life 2 as in Half-Life 2 and it's respective Episodes. Half-Life to Half-Life 2 was big but the episodes are hardly different.

MW2 was one of the only ones i enjoyed, but i didn't like the multiplayer because of how similar it felt. Sure there are plenty more guns, but most of them serve the same functions just with slightly adjusted rate of fire/accuracy/damage. Not to mention that killstreaks in any game is such a flawed concept.

Flawed or not it's still fun and everyone has access to the same things so it's balanced to a degree

that's because the episodes are expansion packs, moron
that's because the episodes are expansion packs, moron
And they didn't cost 59.99$ on release.
Flawed or not it's still fun and everyone has access to the same things so it's balanced to a degree
Honestly, the one reason I love Unreal Tournament (For example) is because it can be fast paced if you want it, everyone gets what they want... CoD can be slow, and you only get things depending on how much you actually play the game.
Half-Life 2 as in Half-Life 2 and it's respective Episodes. Half-Life to Half-Life 2 was big but the episodes are hardly different.
Thats because its still technically half-life 2, you didn't have to pay £40-£50 for them like you do with CoD. Though i do admit the episodic model didn't really work out very well, hopefully they will skip HL2 ep3 and go straight for HL3.
If you look at it, both Episodes together come out to around $50, cost of a fully featured game. Both episodes hardly improve on the original and are short. The Episodic model is just an excuse to take a long time to make a not so great game.
