Flawed or not it's still fun and everyone has access to the same things so it's balanced to a degree
Yeah, but it could be handled a lot better, like with random drops or something instead. Hopefully in the next game they will scrap the killstreaks that just get you kills with no skill at all like the MW1 chopper or WaW dogs.
Thats because its still technically half-life 2, you didn't have to pay £40-£50 for them like you do with CoD. Though i do admit the episodic model didn't really work out very well, hopefully they will skip HL2 ep3 and go straight for HL3.
I like the episodes I guess, nice and cheap... but HL3 would be an instant boner. :v:
If you look at it, both Episodes together come out to around $50, cost of a fully featured game. Both episodes hardly improve on the original and are short. The Episodic model is just an excuse to take a long time to make a not so great game.
Episode 2 came with portal and TF2 and only cost about £25-£30 when it came out. Episode 1 was about £15-£20. That is much better value for money.
Except gears of war adds a boat load of new features to each game, as in serious game changing features.
Yep.
It's also worth mentioning that it, along with Assassin's Creed and Uncharted, also features a full-fledged +10-hours campaign.

fuck you are dumb
Yeah okay, I'm dumb but, it's true. Fanboys are great.
Assasins Creed 2 was a massive improvement over the first one, plenty of new features were added and the gameplay was improved. Brotherhood added multiplayer, i dunno how much it changed the single player since I didn't buy it because it looked too similar to the second game.
With CoD all they do is add some new guns, tweak the multiplayer a little and shove in a half arsed, short singleplayer campaign.
Also, you get more to add to the great plot with each AC game.
I think Michael Bay writes the plot of CoD's campaign.

I have to admit i did enjoy the campaign to MW2, but not as much as i do most other games.
I bet that it'll be based on medals rather than kills, like in the Uncharted 3 MP beta.
Suck Bobby Kotick's dick. Get more ammo.
Fixed
I have to admit i did enjoy the campaign to MW2, but not as much as i do most other games.
Well I do enjoy Captain Price and his mustache being badass. Still, it's nothing great.
I have to admit i did enjoy the campaign to MW2, but not as much as i do most other games.
I didn't, it was just boring, at least CoD4's campaign had the benefit of being somewhat feasible
And they didn't cost 59.99$ on release.
Nor did they stay that way for over 1 year.
the only reason i dislike the call of duty series is because other companies think they need to copy the cod formula in order to make a popular game, so the game market is flooded with dodgy cod ripoffs
[editline]2nd July 2011[/editline]
also i don't find them very fun
So they're simply tweaking the same game and reskinning everything- yet. again.
I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't mistake gameplay videos of any game for any other, not once or twice, but all the time. They mind as well just release a blank template FPS and sell War Packs that just reskin everything to be like the Vietnam War or WWX591!
Seriously, not even the graphics fucking change.
So now graphics suddenly matter?
So now graphics suddenly matter?
Well they do when nothing else in your game has changed.
Well they do when nothing else in your game has changed.
There are hundreds of sequels where the game is similar (not exactly the same, there are changes) and the graphics don't look any different.
I still find the games fun, and an absolute shit ton of people agree, so the company has to be doing something right.
Even more games known for this: Sly Cooper series, Ratchet and Clank series, all sports games, Skate series, BF1942-BF2142 are the same exact formula and feel with minor additions, just a change in setting and theme (just like CoD), Mario Party, etc. I could go on but you get the point, not every game needs revolutionary new features and most don't, just enjoy it, or don't but, stop crying about it. If you don't plan on buying it don't buy it, no one else gives a fuck though. I'll be enjoying MW3 just as much as I did the previous installments this November.

I think you're beginning to grap at straws now. Maybe, maybe not.
I don't get why you guys are so harsh on the CoD series. You're just a bunch of hipsters about it really. "I don't like it because it's popular."
Hell, you're like /v/ about anything that isn't a JRPG
apparently, i'm dumb because I have my own taste in games. Go click on my steam profile, look at my games.
Its just become a rehash franchise. Literally.
MW3 is chock full of re-used assets and half of the gameplay scenarios have been done before IN the actual series.
I've said it a million times but the only aspect of COD that has to be truly admired is how damn easy it is to start playing. The controls are nigh perfect on a game pad and there's next to no learning curve. The problem is re-hashing and the terribly blind community.
If we want developers to create some honest to god AAA games then they need to stop cashing in so easily by rehashing to a blind crowd.
Yeah, killstreaks are now sold as separate DLC and free to those who are subscribers of Call of Duty: Elite.
because the multiplayer is an unbalanced piece of shit.
What so unbalance about that? Because of those Custom Class?
I don't think this really qualifies as a "sensationlist headline"

I don't like CoD because I don't enjoy the community or the way activision likes to pump out game after game year after year.
[editline]1st July 2011[/editline]
Being a hipster has nothing to do with anything

MW1: 2007, MW2: 2009, Black Ops: 2010.
that's hardly pumping out
