Wait, there's 2G?
No they started counting at 3.

There's a 1G?
You could argue it starts at 0G with mobile radio telephones using PTT or MTS systems.
There's a 1G?
Mathematically you'd just call that "G"
I don't like this. Some people don't need 3G, and paying more for a service that you won't use is never too cool. Older people, who want cell service but not Internet, won't appreciate this (if they care). Not everybody has a smartphone.
Uh its in 5 years, 3g is already obsolete/outdone, so uh...yeah, 3g will be a lot cheaper by 5 years time.
Well it depends. Providers have progressed from falsely labeling LTE as 4G to labeling HSPA+ as 4G as well. I've never seen a phone say 4G LTE on the indicator, just 3G to describe EvDo or HSPA and 4G to describe HSPA+, WiMax or LTE.
I read that as
letters numbers numbers letters letters numbers letters
I get two bar 4g in my house and LTE 3-5 bars in Vegas...... go figure. And I get E at my school except they will have a motherfucking Wi-Fi network by then

I believe Verizon is planning the same thing as well, but also discontinuing 3G service within the next 5 years. I least I think I heard that. Which would make sense since they are rolling out LTE like no bodies business. LTE has far more bandwidth than CDMA and as it seems, their aging 2G and 3G networks are becoming extremely bogged down. As of now, my LTE Nexus still has to rely on the 2G network for authentication and voice services. 3G is used as data only. :v:
Besides, there is no point in supporting equipment from the 90's when we can do they exact same thing better with newer technologies. There's a lot more to LTE than just faster internet.
but the world ends in december

AT&T's network is apocalypse compliant.
For all you indulging in the word 'repeater'. It's called a cell site, repeaters have an unnecessary latency and not to mention the echo your going to get if your signal is repeated by more than 1 repeater.

I just used it to refer to the fact that Rogers(Canadian carrier) is putting up antennas on streetlights in areas where they advertise 150Mbps LTE since it runs on 2600MHz. Mostly Toronto.
Lucky bastard. I swear schools where I am are designed to inhibit cell reception.
If your school has a metal roof, it basically acts like a giant Faraday cage and absorbs most all types of electronic RF signals. Then you have the miles of conduit in the ceiling and in the walls that further interfere with signals.
