So who wants to pitch in and start an asteroid colony with me? First clause of the constitution says that anyone who tries this bullshit gets thrown out of an airlock in his panties.
How is this going to effect me as a disable veteran? All my health care and a good chunk of my income comes from my disability pension. Will that stuff go down with the shutdown too?
Hi! I take up American refugees from facepunch in my wooden chalet on top of the matterhorn. There's load of Schokolade and Cheese for everyone!
Schokolade und Kase? What flight do I get on :v:
Well, if there was ever a good time for me to take that planned trip to Europe, now is a good time. Any place is better than here.
people exploiting the crisis to push socialism can fuck themselves with a rake. the problem with congress is senators and representatives do not have limits to how many times they can be elected which means that instead of trying to help the people the politician is trying to maintain their career and being a congressman should not be a career. the us just needs term limits and then it will have the leaders it needs to fix its problems.
is it bad that i hope it fucking happens so maybe both parties will get their shit straight?
we need to transition over to china before the whole US economy zeppelin bursts into flame.
There's just an innate charm and fascination surrounding a system's collapse.
America pls get your shirt together you are fucking up the world economy
You should be directing that at Congress. The other 320-odd million people over here don't want this clusterfuck. It's just the monumental morons on Capitol Hill that are bringing it on.
I don't see why the US can't have a socialised health program like Europe. Oh wait, it's to pander to the corporate overlords. :downs:
No, it's because the GOP can't stand helping the common citizenry. thanks obama
elixwhitetail for super president for life on AsteroidPunch :v:
I appreciate a man with good (avatar) hair sense and initiative. You're my vice-super president for life. If I die, you get to take possession of the golden dildo of leadership.
Which is fine and dandy but over half our population does not pay income taxes and only pays taxes on things they buy, which they get back anyway since they make no money. So everyone else who does pay taxes is gonna get taxed even more, and then theres the bullshit where if you do not take the government health care you get fined, and if you don't pay the fine you go to jail. My parents are really worried that they won't be able to pay for the healthcare insurance when it finally rolls out. I really would there to be a nationalized standardized healthcare system in America, but I do not think that the way its currently being done is the way to go. I seriously can not believe we are already looking at another shut down.
Seriously, the ACA just makes the entire US into a market for insurane companies. They are better ways to do healthcare, and this is not it. Also, the part about so many people not paying taxes is also true, and those who do, have to pay more.

The way it works every year: They bicker up until the deadline, and then once they reach the deadline they start to feel the pressure from the public and whip together some shitty, un-optimized budget just to get people off their backs.

And if the debt ceiling collapses and the US defaults on it's debt, the dollar will become devalued and the economy will collapse, leading to mass movements and protests and possible civil unrest, or worse. Which is never going to happen. So they're going to keep raising the ceiling and passing a budget until the end of time when we're 500,000 trillion in debt and it's the year 2300 and our society is kinda like that movie Elysium.
Dear Germany, No one forgets WWII The people who fucked up your land, USA -- Theres a part of me who wants to see our government fuck up for the sole purpose of people realizing how screwed up our country is
Hahaha..... wait... you aren't serious are you?... I think he is.. No one remembers the steamroller of 2,000,000 soviet soldiers raping and pillaging everything in sight do you?

Well fuck, looks like it's time to plan my exodus to Iceland a bit earlier.
Fuck Republicans. Never have I seen a party that is so willing to fuck up their own economy if they don't get their shitty own agenda in.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_fiscal_cliff Seriously? The democrats did the exact same thing in 2012 and succeeded, and somehow it's the republicans being assholes for pressing an agenda on an economy-threatening event?
Dear Germany, No one forgets WWII The people who fucked up your land, USA -- Theres a part of me who wants to see our government fuck up for the sole purpose of people realizing how screwed up our country is
Holy shit what the fuck. I cant even...wow.
House Republicans have decided that they will not pass a CR unless it defunds the Affordable Care Act, which passed in 2009 and the House has voted to repeal 30+ times. -Senate Democrats will not pass any CR that defunds ACA, and the President will not sign any such legislation
How to hold the country hostage because public servants are acting like clashing rulers of land
Part of me wants the shutdown to happen, because maybe then the public at large will wake up and realize how terrible of a position we are in. But I'm also worried that these old men ARE crazy enough to send this van flying over a cliff.
I'm just saving up to move to another country lol. ABANDON SHIP!!
I'm just saving up to move to another country lol. ABANDON SHIP!!
Yup. Pretty much the only thing in this country worth a shit is the military and the vast majority of those who are or were in it. Everything else is just... garbage. We import everything, we outsource as much as we can because we're too greedy to pay more to make shit here, we're too selfish to work for less to make shit here, and health care is a commodity to be traded on the open market, where IV bags costing $1.20 to make are on our hospital bills for $400. The rich get richer, the poor stay poor, new businesses struggle to get their foot in the door and will continue to do so, getting worse and worse since money funnels up into the already well established wealthy ones, while our government gives our money to select fraudulent ones who lost theirs even after rigging their system to make even more money to begin with Basically, Greed is killing the USA, find a life raft while you can still afford one
Dear Germany, No one forgets WWII The people who fucked up your land, USA
You didn't pay much attention in History class, did you.
You know, the thing that amuses me is that pretty much everyone is pointing fingers at others. Everyone at the government is equally at fault because neither of the parties are at all willing to work with each other and do what is right. Democrats think they're doing what is right and they blame the Republicans when something goes wrong, and the Republicans do the exact same thing. Both parties are wrong, regardless of how right they think they are. Perhaps they should take a step from their ruling seats and act in the interests of the people instead of their own interests. Fuck both parties, and fuck the two-party system. Politicians should be elected on their eligibility and the skills they can bring, not on the false promises they make. [editline]September 24th, 2013[/editline] What I mean by "fuck the two-party system" is that we should elect candidates, not parties. If people operate on labels, it tells you which side to hate instead of just hating the whole.
