The US as it is heavily mirrors the Soviet Union just prior to its dissolution. Even assuming we somehow avoid it, is it even worth it at this point? Our constitution is barely worth the parchment it was printed on at this point. It is an excellent document, mind you, it isn't really the fault of the document itself. It is concise and well thought out. However it doesn't do anyone any good when it isn't followed and the checks and balance system in place refuses to even acknowledge many of the issues. The TSA? Not okay. FISA courts? Not okay. Basically the entire NSA isn't okay anymore. And fuck those are just the ones violating the fourth amendment. (Unreasonable search and seizure) Then you go on to shit like military spending or the entire concept of immigration courts, and it is all just fucked beyond imagination. Maybe we need to fall apart.
I hate that defeatist attitude. This is going to sound cliche but poeple just need to wake up and see their party for what it is - a control scheme. They have created two lines of thinking and forced you to choose one. The people in power don't give a fuck if what they are doing aligns with their party, only that it seems that way and benefits them and their families. Unfortunately I do believe the US is headed down, and that is no coincidence. We have been bled dry and harvested like human farms for so long that there's nothing left for them to take. They will move on to another exploitation scheme and leave us to wallow int he filth they have created. realistically, what could the US going down do to harm a billionaire? especially in this worldwide economy. Before they needed us, but now they don't and it shows.
Basically. It's an extremely selfish "Why should my money go to help others" that many conservatives have, especially rich ones.
That's a good question actually. Why my money should go to help others?
It's easy to just say "Obamacare, that's free healthcare right? who wouldn't vote for that?" but people don't realize what it actually is. It's not just sunshine and rainbows on paper, it's a horrible bill that will make everything worse. Who is to blame? everyone involved.
Republicans. The left wing just wants universal health care, like every other country worth a damn. Everyone has a body. It will eventually need medical attention. Private companies who seek to profit off of insuring YOUR MEATBAG is quite possibly the STUPIDEST FUCKING IDEA EVER CONCEIVED BY MAN IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND. Our system originally worked because most people were members of clubs/orders which automatically pooled resources and would take care of the medical costs with a community pot. They have been replaced by for profit insurance agencies. The system is fundamentally broken and the only way to not crash and burn completely is to compromise. Which is, ta dah, the affordable care act. A last ditch effort to not have a country where the poor die because they can't afford basic medical care.
Keep on blaming obama, his policies and the congress. It's all a big circus to distract you from what is really going on. Dollar collapse is imminent. The fake debt-based economy is coming to an end & a new global currency will be forced upon the world. The end of America marks the beginning of the new order.
Yes, we must use nothing but gold and water filters as currency from now on
That's a good question actually. Why my money should go to help others?
Because capitalism, by its very nature, creates gross inequality. Greed causes a self feeding cycle by which the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. What happens? The country does exactly what it is currently doing, it falls apart at the seams. Helping others at a governmental level is a self serving act. Social welfare programs keep nations operating smoothly and minimize suffering while still permitting wealth and greed to expand the economy.

There are some really stingy people out there (the rich ones usually are).
That's a good question actually. Why my money should go to help others?
Because selfishness isn't viable long term if you want a thriving species.

The Constitution and our entire system of government, while currently failing badly, was a very good attempt that held up for roughly one to two centuries (depending on where you personally feel it fell through). The basic principles behind our government are actually pretty good, considering that it's all supposed to be balanced to avoid corruption, and meant to be controlled by the people rather than politicians. However, change and human corruption have wormed their way in and thoroughly wrecked any hope of keeping things working properly, resulting in politicians controlling everything and corruption running rampant throughout the government and economy. We tried to make a new, better system, and we succeeded for a while, but in the end this form of government has collapsed just like all forms before it due to corruption and human fault. When it comes down to it, our government isn't the be-all-end-all of good governments, rather it's just a stepping stone on the way to that kind of excellent and long-lasting government. Maybe whatever governments form after our government finally dies will be better and more long-lived, and maybe they'll improve upon this one. Maybe they won't, and will instead head in yet another new direction. Either way, I'm sure someone will learn something from this good but ultimately failed experiment.
