Aren't you still wrong though, seeing as technology advances at a rate that allows individual components to be replaced as they gradually become obsolete?
That's a good point. I game on both, so I'm just weighing in the Pros and Cons of both.
From Newegg: -AMD Dual Core 3.1GHz = $67 -ATi Radeon HD 5670 = $100 -Kingston HyperX DDR2 RAM = $40 -ASUS AM3 Motherboard = $80 -HEC Blitz Black Steel case = $50 -Western Digital 500GB HDD = $50 -Rosewill 500w PSU = $40 -Sony Optiarc DVD/CD RW drive = $25 Grand Total = $452 w/o shipping, not counting accessories and a display, but if you're upgrading you should have a monitor, keyboard/mouse, and speakers. Also I never got the point of a Blu-Ray drive. I see the use when it comes to games on the PS3, but not for movies (and I suppose for burning large amounts of crap to a disc, but you could just use a portable HDD for that couldn't you).
You have to consider an average joe can't just go on newegg, order specific parts and build a computer themselves easy
Im sure if they actually sat down and looked at it, they would realize a five year old can do it. The majority of american males know how to fix the engine on a car, yet when tasked with assembling a PC they don't know up from down. Which strikes me as odd considering a PC is just, "This part only fits in one place and will not fit anywhere else on the motherboard no matter how hard I push."
What are you guys arguing about omg
You have to consider an average joe can't just go on newegg, order specific parts and build a computer themselves easy
Then they should ask a friend or relative to help them build.
Spent $650 for my current setup, runs every game that I've tried at max settings while being completely playable.
This.

Damn what ZP review was that from? I saw it once but I forgot and never managed to find it again.
I can't wait for the day Consoles become a thing of the past.
Also since someone is ought to have said that PCs cost a lot more than consoles:
Since everyone is going on about PC costing more than consoles: Console game: 70€ PC game: 40€ PC: 600€ Need to update PC: once a year for around 120€ on average XBL: 8€ a month So let's say you buy a PC and two games a month and calculate the price for 5 years: 600+(120*5)+[(80*12)*5]=600+600+4800=6000€ in five years. Now let's calculate for a console: 400+[(8x12)*5]+[(140*12)*5]=400+480+8400=9280€ Console gaming costs 1.54 times more than PC gaming, and we are excluding the overpriced accessories (like 360 HDDs, for one) and that the PC can do much more than a console. Even if you raise the yearly upgrading cost and the PC game cost (to 50€) console gaming will still cost more (not to mention the full HD tv which costs upwards of 1000€). Hoping that I did not fuck something up hard in the above calculations.
Yes, not all console games cost 70€, but not all PC games cost 40€ either (look at the bundles and deals on Steam, you can get the Square Enix pack for only 70€, which means like 15 new games at the price of a console game).
If Bioware likes PCs so much why is the Mass Effect series a complete console port?
If Bioware likes PCs so much why is the Mass Effect series a complete console port?
The first Mass Effect is, but they notably worked harder on the PC version of Mass Effect 2, not only are the requirements lower, it doesn't feel like a console port at all.
Except it does
Go to the PC builder's section, tell them you have a $1000 budget, get a gaming PC in minutes.
I've done a little research, and i could make a pretty kickin' rad PC for $600 AUD, that could play crysis on medium-low no lag. and this is from all the expensive premium parts suppliers in my city. [editline]08:16PM[/editline]
I can't wait for the day Consoles become a thing of the past.
first step - Kill dell.
I hate how everyone bitches about the price of PC gaming. Have they never heard of a 'long term investment'? Are they really that incapable of managing their finances and saving up for things? Consoles just lure you in with the initial lower cost but in the long run, you're going to get bent over and fucked in terms of pricing unless you buy an incredibly low number of games!
Except that on the PC you need to spend $1600 on a halfway decent gaming platform.
spent £450 on mine and it runs all my games on max. So you're wrong there
The first Mass Effect is, but they notably worked harder on the PC version of Mass Effect 2, not only are the requirements lower, it doesn't feel like a console port at all.
I really hoped thats a joke. Mass Effect 2 is an even worse console port. :v:
You have to consider an average joe can't just go on newegg, order specific parts and build a computer themselves easy
Well, I did. As long as you can use Google, you can build a computer.
I really hoped thats a joke. Mass Effect 2 is an even worse console port. :v:
how?
Fuck yeah. I just bought Dragon age, too.
Dragon Age is on offer?
I LOVE bioware. Im playing Dragon age right now. They've always made great PC games. I really don't see how consoles could keep growing. I hate moving while im gaming
Consoles were there back when computer games had no online multiplayer. The reason why PC games thrive is because of Online Multiplayer. Remove the online multiplayer and we have nothing. So we should thank the internet for making gaming on PC possible Thank you internet
I play on PC for modders, dedicated servers and indie devs, which you just plain can't get on consoles since it's a much more closed platform.
lol console noobs got owned, this further proves the superiority of pc gaming over console
Should we continue wif ze final zolution for ze conzole gamers mein Führer?
I would argue it depends entirely on the game. I always found FPS and RTS games are best on pc while a 3rd person action game like prototype is more fun on console. Can people stop with these stupid elitism arguements please? Neither of you are right and neither of you are wrong. Yes, consoles are pick up and play which is why they appeal so much to people. Not a lot of people have the patience to learn to put a pc together, no matter how easy YOU may find it, a lot of people can't be bothered. And there's nothing wrong with building super-PC's either (not saying they're overly expensive) they have an extensive back catalogue of games and are open to modding which makes games with open source much better than the console versions. But PLEASE stop with the arguement that PC's are better than consoles because your PC is "awesome" or i'll show you my PC and "prove you wrong" in the same way that your "prove me wrong".
except games load quick on the console than the pc for me why do you care so much about this
Oh, yeah - we call that a "joke" in the New World.
I'm hybrid, i can accept that PC is good for some games but for others i prefer a controller.
Consoles are for Racers, Fighters, and Platformers, their analog and pressure sensitivity helps, and the games themselves require few buttons. PCs are for everything else.
Yes and no Usually new consoles come in a five to ten year cycle. In five to ten years, your PC won't be as good as it was. As for problems with consoles dying, PCs die all the time too.
Are you high? Consoles last like two years before the laser wears out.
Are you high? Consoles last like two years before the laser wears out.
I've never had the laser on a console wear out. Ever. Where are you getting this? PCs are great for gaming, but some games just seem better on a console. Not to mention the good exclusives. Of course, Steam makes many games better for the PC. I constantly pick at my friends with L4D on the 360 because they have to pay for DLC instead of getting it for free in an update. In short, both are good so stop arguing like a bunch of fanboys.
