Fucking this. I use the iOS version and it's so awful. Terrible player design, lack of sorting options on lists, confusing navigation, and worst of all it often breaks the audio for the entire device and forces me to restart my phone completely.
If I pause something in the background to save for later and then come back and try to play it, bye bye audio. I've seen some shitty music apps with horrible issues (sup Google Play Music), but I've never seen anything else do something like that.
it runs perfectly fine on android, at least for me
the UI is pretty and all but it can be a bit confusing, but it's usable in the very least, I guess
google is literally the last person who should do this, bar none
it's going to be shit because of entire musicians being taken down for reasons they can't fix, randomly being hit by copyright strikes from 100% original music, being reported for nothing and then taken down
I'm almost offended that anyone would suggest such a thing
*gets reported for the same song 3 times in a row by random non-copyright holder, every google-related service disabled*
yeah the mobile app isn't that bad? iOS it's pretty decent, mind you if you don't have enough signal strength SC kinda fucks up whereas Spotify won't
and sometimes it says playback errors or loading errors when you have the best signal strength available
loosing sc would be devastating for small artist, it's the only platform they can really use to get noticed

I was surprised to hear this turn up while listening through my playlists not that long ago

seems like they've already been getting hit by shitty misguided copyright claims and auto takedowns. A massive portion of a playlist I had before just vanished and I found out a bunch of accounts I followed suddenly had no uploads in them like 2 years back now, lots of "just turned up missing" shit
If it goes down I'll basically lose my entire music library and all the playlists I've made, it's my main source of music :(
Holy fuck, when did TFR get hit with that, I swear I was listening to his stuff not even a month ago?
SoundCloud is awesome for content creators... Otherwise I'm stuck sending shit to YouTube channels for promotion and hoping that A. They accept my track and B. That listeners even give a damn who made the track and find my profiles etc.
SoundCloud is huge for electronic music, and tons of smaller artists. How the fuck do you get more exposure, when the big players in the industry can remove your main platform?
YouTube channels
I know I've found a lot of stuff i like through mrsuicidesheep, but not quite as much as I did from random links in chats, and through soundcloud

seems to have just been a few things as he's still up, but he's walking on eggshells and won't be putting up anything that isn't 100% original. Seems he's keeping up presence on spotify though, he even links the full-song-playlist that soundcloud link used to be, though it's just not the same at ALL if he's not mixing it into one big block with his catchy bounce tying it all together

"few things"
Pretty much his entire remix catalogue is down. I'm just glad I saved that shit while I could. But yeah, you're right, he seems to be playing it very safe.

I'm gonna have to take a whole damn weekend to go and save all the best stuff I've found on there. I really hope they stay afloat for a while more.
I don't know how this many people could use soundcloud. The stream sound quality is horrendous and only 128kbps.
If it goes down I'll basically lose my entire music library and all the playlists I've made, it's my main source of music :(
dont ever expect to keep anything thats not saved on your computer and backed up.
I don't know how this many people could use soundcloud. The stream sound quality is horrendous and only 128kbps.
sound quality is fine for just about anything on there unless your some audiophile who shovels out a grand on headphones

Holy fuck man, your a life saver. Youtube-DL on the case ASAP.

Yeah anyone who doesnt like listening to bad music compression must be one of those fucking audiophile nerds
If Soundcloud does shut down, I'm sure gonna miss this track.

That's why I said IF the copyright system they would choose doesn't suck, else they can just fuck right off.
I don't know how this many people could use soundcloud. The stream sound quality is horrendous and only 128kbps.
So does free Spotify and YouTube, its passable and good enough.
I know I've found a lot of stuff i like through mrsuicidesheep, but not quite as much as I did from random links in chats, and through soundcloud
MrSuicideSheep is a bro and seems to have a REALLY positive artist relationship. He works hard to make sure people do go and follow and watch the artists he promotes. But its also really hard to get with sheepy now since he's so popular, and I haven't heard much about other promoters.
Also, Dai <3 u for liking TFR. He's really cool with how he handles his music, and the Monody stems feature by far my favorite vocal acapella of all time (which I have had tons of fun with, get chills errytime).
I'm dumping some of my playlists here, since its time to rip EVERYTHING. If you like the artist, go find their other pages and give them some love! It means a lot when that happens. And any artist worth a damn knows by now that you can't charge money for your music, so you can probably find high quality copies on bandcamp (go for aac or ogg instead of mp3 PLS).

https://soundcloud.com/nofuchsgiven/sets/melodic-dubstep-or-chillstep
https://soundcloud.com/nofuchsgiven/sets/synthwave-and-retro-stuff
(if you like synthwave this one is huge and has some rare stuff that you probably haven't heard!)

edit: I'm starting to feel somewhat (barely) competent with the music thing and now soundcloud may die :c
what will happen to all my macross future funk and shitty mashups
I don't know how this many people could use soundcloud. The stream sound quality is horrendous and only 128kbps.
Its an excellent way to find new and obscure artists, and tbh most people won't notice 128kbps unless you point it out to them. 96 is the obvious one, 128 you get a bit of high frequency noise, slight vocal sibilance, and usually a touch of stereo squishing
sound quality is fine for just about anything on there unless your some audiophile who shovels out a grand on headphones
No, only a few hundred dollars.
So does free Spotify and YouTube, its passable and good enough.
Wrong, free spotify is 160kbps CBR and youtube is 192kbps CBR AAC for 720+p videos.
Only 337 songs to save
Fuck, the automated recommended tracks mechanic is better at finding music I like that I or any site ever was. I'm gonna miss it if this goes under.
someone contact the internet archive team
someone contact the internet archive team
I don't think they can just start downloading people's creations without their permission.
I don't think they can just start downloading people's creations without their permission.
They've done plenty of archiving without asking for permissions.
Oh hell no!
SoundCloud is literally a golden paradise for finding nearly any type of music. Seriously, the only genre that I couldn't find is Opera Rap in the years of my using it.
Edit: Welp, I just found that genre as well.
randomly being hit by copyright strikes from 100% original music
This already happened to me a couple of times. It's nice to know your own content isn't sacred.
I don't know how this many people could use soundcloud. The stream sound quality is horrendous and only 128kbps.
It's like the easiest way to find new music by artists you like.
